Brian Arden Sangiovese

Did not have the aroma of corked wine, but did have a strange yellow milky film on the cork and the wine just did not seem right. Opened the second bottle it was exactly the same. Definitely not a favorite.

Glowing bright ruby red color. 30 minutes of air and it remained constant for hours. Somewhat candied red and black cherries dominate. Smooth with some sweet Oak elements. Hints of vanilla. A crowd pleaser.

Not quite sure what this was going for. Basically had no cherry fruit or garrigue character, so it didn't really taste like Sangiovese, really just felt thin and linear. At least the alcohol at 13.7 was in check but somehow I still felt some heat. I guess I appreciate the attempt and didn't hate this or anything, but...

Opened it up to go with some ribs - did a tremendous job; a bit brooding lightness with licorice and dark grape, really good balance. This is probably one of my favorite BA wines with a ridiculously low price point. 94 if I account for QPR
