High quality substance, masked considerably by ham-fisted oak treatment. Oak, as a condiment, can add complexity to deeply complex wines. This would have been better with fifty percent less (new) oak than it saw.

17,5/20 COUP DE COEUR Rubis profond. Au nez fruité intense. En bouche, on a droit à des tanins superbes. Wow! Solide avec beaucoup de matière en bouche : ça colle bien à la bouche. Fruit concentré et mûr. Voilà un authentique Madiran comme je les aime ! Un vin avec une superbe texture en bouche. La finale est longue, longue.... Un délice !

Final of 6 bottles. It took a natural/normal curve: peaking at 92pts in 2006 with a stunning fruit-mineral balance; now its clearly-faded oil and sloe has it back to 2001’s 88 pts.
