Querciabella, Palafreno, IGT

Deep purple color. Aromas of black fruits upon pouring, followed by graphite and spice over time. Softly tannic in the mouth. Some chalkiness. The spicy finish is long and satisfying.

Very good merlot from one of my favourite producers. Mature, but still in good shape. Quite full-bodied, silky, with black fruits, leather and spices. Good for what it is, but maybe I’d prefer to have it younger))

Great tuscan merlot. Soft and silky texture with mild tannin. Mainly black fruit, oak, vanilla with a little spicy note. Needs breathing at least an hour as it is drowned in woody note after opening. Evolves very slowly over time, so strongly recommend to have enough time to enjoy this. Think this could last another 3-5 years.

Querciabella tasting (Jeroboam HQ) : Merlot, first vintage 2000, production 3.000 btl, average yield 25hl/ha Alcoholic fermentation and malolactic convention took place in 3tn French oak casks, maceration for 18 days, maturation in French barriques for 12 months. Palafreno is bottled no sooner than 26 months after harvest -//- Compared to the 2016 tasted before, the wine shows more fruit, darker fruit, silky, dusty, more earthy and spicy, much more oaky and concentrated. Very different in style, shows more depth …

Solid Italian Bordeaux and to my palate, not easy to call out merlot vs cab Wine is pretty mature and not sure how much further it softens and fruit fading some Personally would recommend drinking up over next few years
