Purple flowers and purple/black fruit on the nose. The palate reveals blackberries, plum, and violet. More lithe than other PVs that I’ve tried, with good acidity and refined tannins. The swallow reveals a long, slightly sour finish. Quite nice: I appreciate the medium scale of this wine as well as the lower alcohol, which this dangerously easy to drink. This wine is tasting great at 11 years from vintage. This should plateau for a few years. Drink by 2029. 54 …

Never had much luck with Petit Verdot, but this was a pleasant encounter. Lots of dark fruit (blueberry in particular). Drying tannins and tension in acid, not at all lumbering. Feels very European, I have to say. A bit of a wine lover's wine in style (this won't appeal to the Apothic Red crowd). Never had a bad wine from this producer and this was no exception.Good stuff.

PNP, drank over two days. Dark fruit, black currant, black cherry. Ripe, but not extracted. Medium body. Dry tannins, fresh acidity. 12.7% ABV. Interesting and easy to drink from the get go. I don’t know if it will improve, but this should have a long life. I don’t have a lot of experience with 100% Petit Verdot, so YMMV.

Both notes below, from a year ago, capture this well for us. Layered and complex. Structured indeed, and it seems built to develop for quite some time — yet it’s very enjoyable now, over three nights. I don’t recall any other petit verdot bottling of this balanced heft and interest. Bravo!

per back label, dry-farmed, organic grapes grown by the Pierce Family, at an elevation of 1,000 feet. 12.7% abv. opaque dark violet color. Nose dark fruited, pleasing intensity. Palate initially a vanilla flavor with dark fruits, but as it sits open for a couple of hours, a pronounced cranberry acidity comes through and the vanilla fades almost completely, and an earthy flavor comes through more noticeably. Faintly astringent tannins on the finish but not in an unpleasant way, just balancing …

Sangria colored with aromas of purple flowers, white pepper and sweet black fruits. After a couple hours of air, black cherry makes an appearance. On pop and pour the structure was very evident -- plenty of drying tannin and acidity. After an hour in the decanter, the wine opened up considerably; loads of blackberries (but without the sweetness suggested by the nose), plum, white pepper, violet and the barest hint of graphite. The structure is still evident, but the tannins …
