Light honey colored Lots of oak and baking spices on the nose. Some ripe apple notes. Loads of citrus, vanilla and toasty oak on the palate. Instant belly burn, but just a nice soothing warmth. Great bourbon for the price. Smoked a Oliva Melanio Maduro

A classic for a reason This is a very mild-mannered bourbon, but beautifully made. It was quite the center of debate at a cigars and whiskey party at my place this weekend; the guy who brought it loves it for its simple elegance and comforting familiarity. Opened the bottle on 8/12/14. Didn't quite meet my expectations but I do plan to revisit this bourbon again in the near future. No detailed notes recorded during this tasting. My initial impression was that it was s bit lean and uninspiring. Nothing particularly stood out. I thought the higher rye content might give it a bit more cinnamon spice and heat on the finish but it didn't quite deliver. -87 points-
