Very enjoyable, but seems to be thinning out a bit with age, more medium bodied now. Still plenty of Rutherford fruit flavors.

Cabernet bouquet leapt out the bottle. Fill just under cork. Stored in a cold cellar for seven years. Deep red. Lovely smooth tannins with black fruits dominating. Excellent balance. Bought on an off chance at a closing down sale. For various reasons have drunk relatively few Californian wines and looking at reviews of 2003 vintage not expecting much. Quite wrong! Time in hand but no reason to keep.

Opened for 1 hour from a magnum Definitely peaking or even on slight decline. Acid is very well integrated into the wine and the tannins are round and soft. Most of the fruit is gone, but you do have some juicy overripe blueberries still there. Almost a bubble gum type flavor along with minerality, iodine, sea water. Really enjoyable wine. Good mouth feel. Drink them if you have them.

The palate features dark fruits, with mostly earthy flavors of tobacco, eucalyptus, and forest floor. There is a medium body and lively acidity which form the backbone of a mature, balanced wine.

Strong dark chocolate (70% cocoa or more) with a ton of black cherry, deep earthy flavors of black mushroom, eucalyptus / mint, and moderate oak. And it has a very long finish (30 - 40 sec), which amazed me. I have enjoyed this exact wine (2004 Cask Cabernet) many times from Magnum, but this 750ml was much better and more evolved than anything else that came before. At peak maturity right now and surprisingly delicious. This Napa Cab is made …

Clear deep purple color. Clean nose of medium intensity with aromas of cooked blackberry, cooked plums wet stone, vanilla, earth and leather. Wine is fully developed. On the palate it is dry with medium plus acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol, full body, medium plus flavor intensity of dried blackberries, dried cherry, leather, chocolate. Finish is medium. Very good wine, drink now, will not benefit from further aging.

Very dark red color. PNP, split bottle over 2.5hrs. Wow, I'd been waiting for a good reason to open my last bottle of this. I figured hunting weekend with my dad was just the time. The 03 has always been one of my favorite vintages over the last 15 years. Wow, this was a gorgeous bottle. Won't fool anyone, this is California, but at 14 years, this still humming along and showing elegance and balance. The fruit jumps, bright and …

Drinking beautifully right now, lots of dark and red fruits on the nose with some hints of mocha. On the palate the wine has depth and structure to give you something to think about with every sip but it was soft and smooth. I did not decant this so there was significant sediment at the bottom. This is ready to go from the get go, the wine held up over 3 hours. I don't recommend putting this in a decanter, …

Fruit forward for something that's been laying down for thirteen years. Smooth and well balanced. Continues to reinforce to me that any decent wine needs a good ten years after bottling.

This wine was enjoyable but may have lost some of its character. Cask never lacks for tannic structure and this was no different. Still somewhat grippy. it has developed some nice secondary flavors. Probably better 2 years ago, with the exception of the tannins.

Friday Afternoon; 1/22/2016-1/23/2016 (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)) : Very dark red/purple color. Decanted for 2 hours; drank 2 glasses over 3 hours. Its been almost 3 years since I had this last. This bottle was back to where the others had been and probably near peak now, but showing no signs of slippage. Really well integrated, this has probably been my favorite vintage of Cask over the last 10 years, though I have not tried the most recent ones. …

Dark berries and a little oak on the nose. Secondary notes not showing much as of today. Good concentration and surprisingly nice acidigy. Tannins are fine but still prominent. Tannins starting to integrate. A touch of bitter which I found pleasing, but length and complexity are not very high. The wine is unapologetically Napa.

Very dark red color. PNP, drank 2+ glasses over 3 hours. Lovely nose with creme de cassis, blackberry, fruit of the forest pie, chocolate, dust, dry earth, and mineral. The palate is full bodied, layered, velvety texture, elegant, creme de cassis, blackberry, dark cherry, fresh ground spices, subtle earth, subtle oak and very round tannins with a long finish. This is in a great place now and should continue to drink well for at least 3-5 years. 93+ to 94pts.

It has been a while since I last opened one of these, and it has continued to get better. A good amount of fruit still there but other flavors and aromas have started to come out as well. This was very good as a pop and pour with some aeration but was even better the next day.

The bottle requires at least one hour of decanting to open up, but open up it does. Very beautiful wine with hints of blackberry, pencil lead and eucalyptus. Still has some nice fruit but tending towards the secondary flavors. Got better over the night and I thought it was stunning.

PnP and let breathe incrementally 45 minutes to 5 hours. Elegant, finessed and understated with fruit seemingly receding and tertiary flavors emerging. Bright red berries and blackberry on the nose, but less noticeable on palate with some leather blended in. Mid-bodied with dry fine grained tannins, moderate acidity and medium finish. Decent, but was expecting more. May have opened this a bit past its prime.

Getting better with time. It didn't take long for it to open up. Nice vibrant red fruit, mocha, creme de casis, and dried herbs. Really enjoy where this is at right now, so don't really want to gamble on where this might go from here so I'm gonna drink up.

If the aroma of this wine is "Rutherford Dust", I need some more dust in my life. Give it some time to open up, and you'll be rewarded with a glass full of dirt... in a good way, of course. Fruit is definitely muted at this point (a touch of cherry), but the tannins are still around and there is some decent acidity. Certainly better with food. QPR eh. 90-92.
