24 hour slo-ox. All those strange notes merged. It's nose was steely with crushed rocks. Palate was also loaded with oxidized iron and crushed rocks. One bottle left from the Rare Wine Company. This was really good stuff, but needed air. Initial pour was yeasty and held metal smells. I gave that glass 30 minutes with swirls. Still smelled like metalic sewer, but there was some fruit lingering in there. I'm gonna give this a good day or more of slow-ox. Still this glass, I don't know.

Last of 6, decanted 30 minutes, perfect cork and level, best bottle and much better than rather dumb bottle in July 23, still on upward slope and proper expression of Barolo, upside, 10+ years. F (17.5).

Light garnet center with watery rim. Fragrant red fruits. Lighter weight, really a wisp of a wine today that reminded me of Alto Piemonte for its delicacy. Mon dieu, que c'est excellent! I did not know anything about this wine before I opened it. It was clear, rested and ready, so I decanted. It had about 3oz of sediment laden juice left. Not much nose, but tasted like Nebbiolo to me. It had a distinct crunch and its color looked Barolo-esc. Decanted 3 hours in advance. Clear red. Exuberant, heady aromatics of ripe cherry. Big, full, and glycerine. Forward red fruit and herbs with some bark lurking underneath. Not overly alcoholic as the nose might suggest. Hardly the final word in Nebbiolo complexity, but a strong effort from this warm vintage that is in a good drinking window.

5th of 6, decanted 30 minutes, perfect cork and level, pitched against an Elena Ascheri 10, it revealed to its disadvantage a leaner, edgier mouthfeel with less as yet going on, may be that it has closed down a little, but felt like harder work than last bottle, hopefully upside, no rush. G+ (15.5).

1 hour decant then drunk over three hours with and without food. Pale colour. Fragrant nose but not intense. Quite withdrawn and acidity poking out without much fruit. Sharp elbows. Much better with roast pork belly which softened the edges. Improved after dinner and started to open up. Suggests needs more time.

Decanted and tasted, small cloud of sediment at the bottom after standing for weeks. Pale ruby with slight bricking typical for Nebbiolo; medium intensity aromatics with rose, red fruited, strawberry, a bit of black licorice, slight mint; palate is medium bodied, deeper red fruits, approachable medium-plus tannins, medium acidity, midpalate a bit one-note though not thin; finish is medium length. 1st of 6, decanted an hour, perfect cork and level - dark, not dense, garnet, little development; flavour profile as in last note other than mint which I did not detect; excellent length and persistence with whack of fruit masking underlying considerable tannic structure, although drinkable with pleasure full maturity at least 5 years off. An absolutely beguiling nose on the 2011 Disobedient. Distinctive rose oil, peppermint, Seville orange rind, creosote, and tangy red fruit wafts from the glass. Was let down a little by the palate presence after the enticing bouquet. Mostly sour cherry and tart red fruit with considerable tannic grip. I think this fans out a bit with 3-5 years age. This wine is a definite hold for now.......

Benefited from air as tannic hit on Open. Disappeared with 20-30mins in decanter. Classic barolo nose for me. Cloves. Sweet juicy fruits on the palate. Bright and full of life. Finishes with a hint of sour cherry.

I bought this on the suggestion of a local wine store owner who asked if I liked Nebbiolo wines. I told him I did, but sometimes didn't have the patience to wait for them to enter their drinking window. Light clear ruby with just a hint of bricking; nose is aromatic, red fruit, strawberry, cherry, some roses, a hint of soy; palate is medium bodied with fleshy red fruit that gives it density, medium alcohol (14%) and well in check, high acid, supple youthful tannins that are much more approachable than expected; medium finish, more prominent slightly grippy tannins. Quick note from memory. This wine really stood out well among the handful 2001 Barolos we had that night. Fresh, bit fleshy but still elegant. Dark cherries, tobacco and some leather on the nose. Really nice balance and fine finish with long tannins. Obvious lift to it all. Really nice. 92-93p.
