Domaine Guiberteau Saumur Blanc Le Bourg Brézé

Complex and excellent Chenin Blanc from Guiberteau. The bouquet has some woolly waxy notes, peach and phenolic overtones. In the palate it has good grip and freshness. Should develop nicely and has potential for greatness.

This '22 'Le Bourg' from Breze from Domaine Guiberteau was tasted at the Becky Wasserman x Pogo's tasting here in Dallas. All my of tasting notes with be more chicken scratch than formal notes so apologies there but all wines are scored and revisited everything to reaffirm. First experience with this bottling. Light chenin notes on the nose, decent depth of flavor, with nice acidity, some light minerality, a bit of saline. Pleasant, correct, but not showing a lot of complexity at this young age. A few years should flesh it out and bring a little more interest. Still, it’s an enjoyable wine, and a good example pf the variety.

Domaine Guiberteau Tasting : Expressive and floral with ginger, beeswax, honey, and soft buttery oak. Accents of sweet nutmeg and baking spice add aromatic warmth. Palate is medium(+) in acidity and body, with a medium finish. Lovely concentration and precision, though a bit more linear and shorter than others in the flight. Aromatic and charming, if slightly less expansive.
