There's some scant blackberry fruit left, but it's pretty darn muddy at this point. Given the previous review, maybe I got a bottle with subpar storage. Oh well, worth the $30 gamble.

ABV: 14.6%. Not sure what the varietal composition is on this wine, but I assume it’s a Bordeaux-style blend? A fragrant nose of cassis, pencil shavings, Chambord, black licorice, and black fruits (think plums, black cherries, blackberries, etc.). Very elegant and juicy on the palate with well-integrated acidity to lift the abundant fruit, leading into the lengthy finish. I detect a little heat on the finish, but not sure if it’s the ABV or the wine reacting/enhancing something that I …

A little musty on the nose (as an older wine, not in a bad/defective way). Fresh fruit is largely gone; mostly secondary characteristics left at this point. Lots of dark stewed fruit on the palette. Tannins have softened but are still very noticeable. Long smooth finish. Still enjoyable, but clearly at or a little beyond its optimal drinking window.

Previous bottles of 2007 worthy were disappointing. This bottle was so solid. Not a lot of time left, but still held up and had tannic characteristics. Decanted and improved over the hour of drinking. Last 07 in my basement

Has an herbal edge out of balance with everything else -- the green vine flavor others have referenced. A shame, since fruit and tannins show promise. I expect more finesse at this price point. A pork roast with apple-tarragon-balsamic glaze worked to hide the tongue, but won't be repeating this wine.

Disappointing. Green/herbal as previously mentioned, just not a good set of flavors, especially at that price point.

Fairly herbal, palate is rather sweet, but green at the same time. They are masking a difficult vintage with sugar. Bit of a mess.

Made from the grapes not good enough to put in the top wine of this estate, styled to be deliciously fruit forward and smooth for early drinking. Despite this early approachability, this 14 year old wine is ageworthy. Both the acidity and tannin show the smooth integration that only older wines achieve, yet the wine showcases the delicious fruitiness that makes Napa wines famous. Drink any time in the next 3 years.

Fully mature and maybe over the hill, but distinctly napa and still a treat. Needs 90 mins to open. Perfect cork, little bricking but raisined on the nose. More whiffs of prune, black olive, cigar box and toasty oak. Full bodied, juicy but fading acid and integrated tannins. Very chewy and dusty. Slight grip on the finish. Lots of oak. More lush and fruit driven in the palate than the nose suggests. Tangy currants, black cherry, but white chocolate, balsamic, …

Crazy nose of dust, wet earth, animal hide funk, raw meat, iodine, cured olives, moldy wood and pepper. On the palate all of the nose elements swirl, layered with black tarry fruit. Totally alive in the mouth with bright tannin and round dark fruit. Standing up so well now (2015). Delighted to have one more bottle. PJG: 91

I don't believe the CT drinking window is right, as this keeps getting better every year. I'm not usually a fan of the mintiness that Napa Cabs often acquire, but the balance of mint, blackberry and earthy secondary characteristics is beautiful. Also some sage in the nose. Medium weight in the mouth. Excellent finish with plenty of lift with the mint echoed again. Even though 2002 is generally well regarded for Napa, I still think it's under-rated.

From magnum. Had the extraction of a Cali Cab and the subtleness and elegance of a Bordeaux. A winning combination.

One of my favorite blends! This wine never fails to come through. Rock solid. Smooth tannins. Not a chewy cab and not a funky Old world blend. This wine is somewhere in the middle.

Good to go on pop-n-pour. This has held up well and provided plenty of pleasure for the $25 it cost me. The tannins are fully resolved, so I wouldn't hold it much longer.

Seymour Wine Club Meeting 11/1/13 (Home of the Slywka's) : This wine was a little more in your face with the fruit but I found the nose a little less complex than Wine 1. Displayed some big fruit flavors of cherry, red berries and flowers. Where this really set itself apart was on the palate with some nice jammy fruit of cherry, blackberry and licorice. It ended with a beautiful 25-30 second finish.

Color advanced; pretty much what I would expect from an eleven year old. Nose of dusty red fruits; raspberries, cherries and red plums. There is a hint of black cassis too. Age shows nicely on this and time has been good to it. Palate shows a nice intensity without being in your face, as a matter of fact this is very elegant and poised. I still get the dusty red-black fruits with the addition of cola, soft framboise and lead …

Thinking wine might be past it's prime but was very wrong. Decanted and sat for 30 mins before tasting. Color still deep red with no bricking at all. Nose really opened up as did the palate over the next few hrs. Fruit still there and initial tightness and tannic structure disappeared as we enjoyed it. Surprisingly good, with rich mouthfeel for this wine/age.

Popped and poured. Bought this based on the fact that I remember enjoying a previous vintage very much and it delivered quite nicely. A very nice red blend with a fruit profile of plum along with black and red cherries. Notes of roasted coffee and chocolate. Nice balance and quite smooth. Moderate finish with smooth tannins. Very nice wine which is quite approachable right now and represents a good QPR at about $26.

Very nice. I'm glad I structure my cellar to try wines like this well after they are released. Pleasant. Not the most complexity or the longest finish, but enough of each to make me happy drinking it. PS - Apropos of nothing, I'm wearing my Diavola shirt today, making me miss Geyserville and Sonoma County. Cheers!

I actually think this is pretty good QPR for the $22.50 that i paid. Dark purple, Fleshy rich cabernet that is not overoaked, relatively balanced with medium tannins and ready to go now with a splash decant and a 45 min wait. Medium finish and a good steak wine.
