The colour is a nice opaque red, a bit fluid at the rim, though it does not show browning at all after 15 yrs. There isn’t a lot of tannin left after decanting and it seems fully mature. Nose is quite complex. Red fruits on the nose, some sous bois, savoury, earthy notes and a touch of oak. On the palate, light to medium bodied with moderate acidity and low tannin. Last bottle of a half case and for my tastes the best of the lot. Harmonious and more supple that prior bottles, still holding onto a thread of taut tension. There is a whiff of horse stable here too if (like me) you like a little of that kind of thing.

Strawberries and tree bark notes are not new; a distinct impression or flowers is something I have not noticed in prior bottles of this wine. But this is noticeably floral. Really charming.

open a couple of hours, then a decant. Could have used longer. Like all Confuron NSGs - brilliant, but a bit tightly wound at first.

What I said four months ago still applies. I am becoming more doubtful about this having enough staying power for 2025. Check in another year or so seems prudent — certainly not more than two before re-evaluating window for last bottle. Edit: temperature seems especially important. There is more savory goodness at warmer temps. This may have another 5 years in it on second look.

Hard to draw a bead on this. The mid-palate is super lean, but there is some length and resonance on the finish. I could see this going in either direction from here; I am betting on the finish though. Three bottles left and spacing should be 2020, 2022 and 2025 to get a full sense of the span of development.

A mid-weight beauty with lively persistence. Seamless. Tart red berries that fan out on the finish. I have tried this wine in the handful of vintages between 2010 and ‘15 (save for the ‘13) and this one has always been at the head of the pack for me.

This was a surprise. In a perfect place right now, and usually the Fleurières is a distant cousin to the Chaboeufs and Boudots - but this one held up very well, with a strong tannic line, long finish and very round mouth feel. A bit of tar and leather, but not overpowering of the fruit.

Very clean and fine NSG, from the best Bourgogne vintage since the Swedish town of Mora burned. Hard to be served after a lovely bottle of Clos de la Roche 2008, but this wine stood up fine and delivered. Drinks great as a young wine. Blackberry and dark wet earth. Combines depth of flavor and gracefulness. It is very easy to like this wine. One to follow for 10 years or more. Right in my sweet spot.

Tasted a small pour at a Scott Paul tasting. Really funky nose, which I was later told is being explained as reduction. For me a strange mix of what I read as smoke taint and lactic acid, though reduction makes sense. I swirled quite a bit while chatting with friends, which helped, but what was left didn't really grab my attention. I would strongly suggest leaving this one alone, or planning on some active decanting and the like.

France 2011 - Côte d'Or; 7/8/2011-7/13/2011 (Beaune) : Tasted at the Domaine. From barrel. Nice nose of dark pinot fruit which carries into the mouth with hints of spice. Flavours are quite pronounced and there is a good amount of structure. Doesn’t show much NSG rusticity. Very nice. (88-90).

France 2011 - Côte d'Or; 7/8/2011-7/13/2011 (Beaune) : Tasted at the Domaine. From barrel. On the nose there is just a hint of greenness coming through that detracts from the nice red pinot fruit aromas. In the mouth it’s quite masculine with the most structure of the three NSGs. Unforgiving at this stage and difficult to judge but there is potential here I think. (85-90?).
