Beaux Freres, Gran Moraine Pinot Noir, Yamhill-Carlton

Nearly all fruit has transitioned to tertiary. Dried and stewed red cherry, red plum, dried leaves, forest floor, root beer, and judicious vanilla, pipe tobacco, and nutmeg. High acid sings an octave higher than harmonious. M/M+ tannins are especially fine-grained and smooth. M+ body. Long finish. Cloudy M+ garnet color, edging toward brown. It is still enjoyable, but didn't seem to age as well as anticipated at only 11 years old. It's possible the wine had less-than-ideal storage.

Removed from professional storage. Certainly developed, but still in a nice spot to drink right now. Dried red fruits, black tea notes. I would not hold this any longer however.

I just know great Pinot when I taste one. This BF Gran Moraine was delicious.

Funky blackberry river rick Medium acid, spice, cherry cola

Purchased at winery upon release & stored at the right conditions . . . Currently showing well, and still on the way. Everything is harmonious, and as is usually the case with OR Pinot, it was quite food friendly (in this instance paired beautifully with coal fired pizza). 2013 was an underrated vintage, and I wish we had more.

I have to describe this wine as: Incomplete, Underachieving, and exceptionally Weird. It has high acids and under-ripe fruit; big traces of Sulphur; scents of drugstore makeup (or soap, or plastic-y material); extremely limited tannin, and it is overall very unsatisfying. I appreciated the flavors of red roses and the vibrant crimson color, but that’s not very much when you consider the price (over $75). PNP. Bright, deep pinkish ruby color. Blackberry, cherry, kiwi, coconut milk and sweet soap on the relatively heavy Pinot nose. Very high acidity on the tingly palate. Soft tannins on the long lingering finish. There were some citrus and leather notes coming through after an hour of drinking. The acidity was a bit distracting and probably caused me to reduce this otherwise complex wine by 3-4 points.

Another excellent offering from Beaux Frères. Rich red fruit and mineral depth, structured, and balanced. This wine needs time. 92-93.
