Surprising acidity made this a great wine for nutty cheeses and bison burgers. Smooth with a clean finish - but a bit too acidic to drink on its own.

A very drinkable, organic 70-75% Bobal, 15-20% Grenache & 10-15% Syrah. Punches well above its price point. Med (+) ruby. Med (+) aromas of tart black fruit, ripe red fruit, a hint of earthiness, some smoke and baking spice from 10 mos. of aging in a mix of large oak casks and tanks. Delicious. Deep ruby in the glass, quick forming long tears, moderately aromatic nose, dark fruits and cacao, palate is dry and pronounced, bursting with ripe fruits, black cherry, black currant, plum, bit of bramble, mulberry, notes of cedar, baking spice, tannins are polished, acidity balanced and finish is long. Fantastic QPR. Unfiltered Spanish goodness.

Similar in style to oaked mencia. Lots of fruit and oak, bitter chocolate. Good texture, fresh, quite collected finish. Serious wine. Great value.

Fruity young wine (organic viticulture / limestone soils) from the Utiel region (Comunitat Valenciana), predominantly made from Bobal (75 %, an indigenous grape-varietal to the Utiel-Requena area) accomplished with small portions of Merlot (10 %), Cabernet Sauvignon (7 %), Garnatxa (6 %) and Tempranillo (2 %). First time trying this grape. Clear, dark cassis colour with purple rim, hundreds of fast-moving tears. Clean, mes+ intensity, aromas of mulberries, blackberries and blackcurrants, menthol, coffee, and something dark and brooding. Dry, med body, med alcohol, med tannins, med- acidity, with further tastes of dark pomegranate and dates, black olives, pepper, and hints of cigar and red licorice. A stunning finish that lasts for more than a minute. Very impressed.

Sweet spices, dark fruit on the nose - straightforward and a bit simple. On the palate ripe and slightly sweet fruit, good acidity, again rather linear with decent length. Well made and uncomplicated. 87-89

Big, forward and bold, but there is a nice clean purity to the fruit. Reminds me of some Ridge Lytton springs, but with a sharper edge and less definition on the palate, Tannins probably a bit soft for long ageing, but lovely sappy finish with some nice perfumed spice.

Definitely agree that this is petite sirah like on day one, big and jammy monster. On the second day the tannins settled down and fruit soften so that it was as jammy. First experience with bobal and this was a good one. Good qpr.

Definitely unique and individual, we don't get much opportunity to taste the Bobal grape very often. This is a glass and teeth staining big dark wine. Close to full bodied with considerable backbone and structure. Lots of rustic, menthol, hemlock and other evergreen flavors enhancing the rich blackberry and black currant fruit flavors. Coats the roof of the mouth with a mineral mulberry flavor. Doesn't seem to show much oak. This 2012 has integrated nicely the acid. alcohol and tannins.

A big, bold wine that is still soft and approachable. Very dark color with a fruity, woody nose. Fairly low acidity, but deep flavors of dark fruit over firm tannins. Nice blackberry notes on the finish. Because this lacks acidity, I think it tastes best slightly chilled. If you like California Petite Sirah, you will like this. Good value.
