Vassaltis Mavrotragano Limited Bottling

MyCava portfolio tasting (Bankeion hotel) : In the nose, the wine shows ripe red fruit, red berry notes, there is some reduction here in the back, some floral notes, a few sweet spice notes. In the palate, the wine shows some evolution already (which is strange), bold tannins but not aggressive, red berry notes, cuts fast though, med body. 12.50% alc Maybe not the best of bottles ?

Diamond Importers Greece Trip May 2025; 5/2/2025-5/11/2025 (Greece) : Medium/- ruby color. Palate is very crunchy and a little teeth stripping. Reductive aromas and rather Canary Islands-ish, some barnyard aromas and medium tannin. Orange zest and mountain strawberry to the palate. First vintages were jammy and over-cooked. Now picking a week earlier in ripening, and the acid is obviously fresher. 1yr in 500L barrel, then 2yrs in bottle before release.
