Cesar Marquez, Bierzo, El Rapolao

Nose is freehand and inviting with florals and red fruit. Yet palate is Crunchy, Edgy, and Wild. This wine is such a joy! Enjoyed the 2021 when I tried it a while back, no idea why I waited so long to revisit. Could do with a bit more freshness in the 2020, hence the lower score compared to the 2021 but still such a lovely wine.

Rosé champagne session by Asparagus at Maison Dakota. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, purplish ruby colour. Thin legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of rocky stony minerality, purple fruits, boysenberries, blackberries. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12.5%), smooth medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of boysenberries, blackberries, brambles, peppery spice, stony minerality. Long finish. Very good quality. Will be nice to see how this develops over the …
