Monte dei Ragni Valpolicella Classico Superiore

A great Valp Superiore from Monte dei Ragni. High in alcohol (15,5) but it's integrated well with the fruit. Really good acidity and smooth tannins, full body with blackberry and ripe raisins. The structure is really good, had this to homemade pizza with salami, mozzarella and feta cheese. Drink or hold.

The aromas leap out of the glass with notes of black olive, roast meat, rosemary, bramble, prune, brandies cherries, and cassis. Warming alcohol on the nose too (it’s 15.5% abv). It’s sublime on the palate - plenty of lick-smacking acidity, terrific depth of flavour, and a long finish. I absolutely love it.

This was so much better now than a year ago, then a little closed but now the fruit has blossomed. There is some nice power left in form of small tannins, clearly one of the better Superiore I have in my celler. Drink or hold.

Tea and cedar nose with red currant. Deep red currant and tobacco on the palate with present tannins. Finish has a mineralic note and lingers.
