Second bottle of this, and it was just as good as the last. I love this version of Sangiovese, and this bottle shares all of the characteristics that I love about it - dry, fairly tannic, high acid, quite rustic and extremely well balanced with lots of red fruits, dried herbs and tobacco.

Multi hour decant, this is one of those bottles that the nose is better than the palate, not that the palate is unpleasant in any way. After this opened up from the decant time the expression of rich red fruit and forest floor is impressive. The palate is grippy in the right ways with a good amount of acidity thrown in to allow the cherry/cranberry notes to pop.

Medium red. The nose started out very floral and fresh but by the time we got to the food it seemed to tighten up. It may have been me or the food pairing, Chicken and Mushroom Claypot rice.

Rustic, classic, earthy, spicy, structured, complex. I never used to understand when people would comment “you can taste the land the grapes were grown in” until I tried this wine. It may be that this wine quite literally tastes of sour cherry and plum wrapped in tilled earth, or it could just be some romantic nonsense I’ve imagined because of the sentimental nature of this wine for me and all the memories it elicits. These grapes were growing while my …

Single varietal of Sangiovese comes from a single vineyard located next to its historic “Il Nocio” vineyard. Aged for 12 months in tonneaux, 12 months in large barrels and 10 months in bottle. Feels fresh and fragrant, with slightly lower acidity than Sotto Casa. Medium ruby colour. Medium intensity aroma of strawberries, cherries, roses, violets, tobacco, leather, underbrush. Medium body, juicy red fruit flavours with spice and plummy hints, austere edges, integrated acidity and rich but fine tannins.

Decanted for one hour. Smooth tannins, little fruit but elegant. Drank it within one hour and at the end little oxidation notes already appeared.

Mørke røde bær, urter, lakris. Saftig, god syre og kraft. Bedre enn jeg husker forrige og hadde godt av noen timer lufting. Disse kan godt ligge lenger.

Nice, fruity, cherries, soft overall, fine tannins on the backend. Easygoing but good food wine.

Plummy aromas with some woody notes. Meaty, ripe and quite soft on the palate, with fine tannins. Not as powerful as the 2015.

Had with steak at Giannis in Wayzata MN, father's day dinner w dad and brother. Very nice wine list (for Minnesota) and I picked this over a long list of Napa cabs and a solid list of Brunellos (2016 Biondi Santi for $375, for example). My issue with the Cabs and Brunellos is that they are very pricey while at the same time are often just too young on the restaurant wine lists unless you go somewhere with a spectacular …

91 points today, probably 93+ points with 5 more years of aging on it. This was a pop and pour and we did this wine a disservice by only decanting it in the glass for 10 minutes before drinking. In its current state, it is tight and closed. That said, this has all of the stuffing to age and develop into a wonderful wine. I recommend a minimum 2 hour decant if drinking now. Otherwise, hold for 3-5 more years …

Pretty nose, serious, with the Vino Nobile sense of spice to it. Mid palate is flush, and fruit and more easy to drink compared to the Brunellos. MOre open and softer, especially in the back. But that is only comparing Vino Nobile and Brunello. Long finish here, mineral, a baby now but drinkable, will go much further.

85% Sangiovese Prugnolo Gentile, 15% Canaiolo, Colorino and Mammolo. Very seductive wine from this family run business in Cervognano we visited last month. Attractive aromas of cherries, red berries, dried herbs. On the palate, juicy fresh fruits, fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity. Very accessible right now, will age beautifully for a decade!

Not as dark but lovely bright, rich fruit. Polished on the nose, herbal, smoky, very nice. Very round and polished on the palate, fresh and great length. Too young, but will be lovely in a couple of years. 91-93++

Anteprima Vino Nobile Montepulciano - 25 TN inside! (Montepulciano (Si)) : 100% Sangiovese cru. Faded red colour. Fine, but not intense at nose. A bit short and tannic at taste. LM 84/2013; AiS 91-100/2014

Young and primary. Nose of red cherry, dusty tuscan soil, perfume and wild flowers. Palate is delivering nice primary red fruit profile, but at the moment very tight and unapproachable packed in acidity and tannins. contains a lot of stuffing and could develop nicely. The top Cuvee from Boscarelli.

Fantastic food wine. Medium garnet with an etheral nose of tea, menthol, red cherry, cranberry and mineral scents. Medium-bodied, with soft tannins, bright fruit, balancing acidity and a long finish. A very elegant wine that is extremely enjoyable now but will drink nicely for another 5 years at least. Pairs nicely with all kinds of meat dishes and it is the ideal partner to Italian cuisine.

Slow Wine Guide 2012 (Release tasting) (Metropolitan Pavilion) : The nose was intense with red fruits and spice. Earthy floral notes rounded it out and added plenty of depth. On the palate, it was expansive and showed a finessed and elegant inner floral perfume with tight red berry fruits. The finish was long and showed a fine tannic structure. This is a wine that I plan to bury in my own cellar.

Decanted for 1.5 hours. Aromas of tobacco, earth and dark berries. Palate wasn't lush but still seemed ripe (in a good way) for a young Sangiovese. Moderate tannins and acidity. A very nice wine that seemed to please wine novices and pro's alike.
