This beer has definitely seen some evolution over the last 6 months, and while it may not quite be peaking, it's still going strong for sure. A rich dark nose leads seamlessly in a leathery tart note, with vinous and earthy notes coming from the port barrel as opposed to full-on wine character. An equally dark swallow punctuated by a super-dry finish rounds out this exceedingly quaffable Flanders red.

The return of a classic, and a few years off have built the anticipation for sure! Fortunately, the beer delivers. A solid Flanders, as always, with milder leather notes than expected, but I feel like that's because of the port wine barrels (an inspired choice, to be sure) and the late cherry addition. Finishes dry, but still manages to let the fruit shine. I'd be glad to see more of this in my life, and to not have to wait …
