Nice Petite Sirah but underperformed based on expectations and experience for Turley Hayne, especially in light of the recently posted reviews. This may have been a slightly off bottle, but wondering if it may be in a phase that’s not in my personal range of interest. Unsure whether to wait a few years on these.

Last of our 2013s; this wine has gone from a fruit bomb to a well-integrated, complex wine with soft tannins and good depth of flavor. Drinking very nicely now. Sorry that I don’t have another bottle to try in a couple of years.

dark color; some gravitas; don't really notice the tannins under all that fruit; worked well with several food types

One of the better Turley Petite Syrahs I've had, some of them have been a bit of a disappointment, but this one is more like what I've been expecting. Inky dark with blueberry, plum, chocolate.

On the palate- Big jammy dark fruits and dark blueberries, blackberries and ripe figs, cassis and brambly pie notes, dried leaf's and wild herbs, incense and violets, cigar box spice and graphite, oak and vanilla with some baking spices. Nicely resolved and mature with no signs yet of turning tertiary. (I have no idea how long, if ever, it takes Turley PS to turn tertiary.) Smooth, integrated tannins. Plum, pepper, touch of smoke. Good complexity that adds interest to what would otherwise be an overly bright, fruit-forward wine.

30 minute decant. Nose of dark cherries with a light medicinal note. Palate delivers a swath of black plym, black olive, iron ore and white pepper. Fully resolved tannins with blackberry and oak barrel provide a relaxed finish. A subdued wine for a Petite Sirah from this producer. Wouldn't hold further based on the two bottles I bought on the secondary market.

From a bottle that was purchased upon release and cellared under ideal conditions, this wine was double-decanted, allowing three hours of aeration in carafe prior to funneling back into the cleansed bottle. It was then taken to a restaurant, where it was consumed over approximately two hours. Deep-to-opaque garnet in color, it unleashes an intense bouquet of black and blue fruits that are accented with notes of leather, lavender, baking spices, graphite and savory herbs. Full-bodied, freshly acidic and without …

Drinking really well. Often I like the Turley Zins better than the Petite Syrah, but this was an awesome bottle. Full through and through with great dark fruit flavors.

1 hour decant. Nose of dry black fruit, eucalyptus, and black olives. Palate has dry blackberry fruit, black olive, rubber notes, and hints of raspberry hiding underneath. Supple tannins on the finish with clay, damp earth, blueberry, and oak. A little oxidation seems present throughout. Tame for a Petite Sirah, particularly from this producer - we expected a little more.

Highly recommend. Popped and poured and recommend a longish decant of at least 1-2 hours if you can and with this I would expect improvement of 1-2 points. Well balanced now with controlled and well integrated but very present oak and tannins and an intense core - with proper cellaring this wine should easily last a decade+ longer with more improvement expected. Drink or hold now. Intense nose of tar, smoke, dark fruit and black pepper. Softening but still a …

14.3% abv. Dark purple, very aromatic. On the palate, ripe plum, mint, black pepper and floral highlights. Very intense, great depth and length. This wine handles it's extraordinary power very well - very smooth and not over the top. Probably at the early stages of a long and delicious plateau.

14.3% abv. Dark ruby, extremely deep aromatics. On the palate, ripe plum, white flowers, black pepper and a touch of menthol. The tannins are well resolved at this point. Extremely, deep, long and focused. Fantastic now and should hold at a high level for years to come.

14.4% abv. Dark ruby, Plus+ aromatics. On the palate, ripe plum, black pepper, pomegranate and floral highlights. Exceptional depth, length, intensity and focus. This wine is in a really good place - vibrant, but tannins are largely resolved and some secondary flavors are emerging. Major treat!

I opened about a half hour before dinner which was a mistake. This wine would have definitely benefited from a few hours in the decanter. Dark red fruit on the nose. The palate was dark cherry, plum, a hint of strawberry and some nutmeg. A moderate to long finish made this an enjoyable wine.

Again this is an awesome Cabernet. That said from a winemaker who swore not to make a Cabernet (supposedly) years ago. The wine is just so elegant with fresh squeezed blueberry fruit nose in combination with a touch of sulphur. In mouth the juice is forward and definitely blue fruits influenced which leads to its elegant and mild acidic mouthfeel. Overall medium weight with balanced tannins. Feels about ready right now to drink.

Drank at Opera House so didn't take detailed notes. This was fabulous, especially for the price on their wine list. Dark layered fruits, very smooth. Tannins were soft but present.

Hayne PSyrah, is one of the few California wines I actually look forward to drinking. Sadly, a wee-bit corked. You could still feel the grip of the tannin and the robust fruit structure on this beast. So yes, I liked a flawed wine, but only because you can tell how delicious this wine could be when it’s on.

14.9% abv. Deep ruby, moderate aromatics. Intense red and black fruit, leather and black pepper on the palate with a savory element. Excellent depth, good length. A strong tannic backbone argues for continued continued improvement. A suave and strong Napa mountain cab.

Such a wonderful wine. Blueberry dominant fruit both on the nose and in the mouth. More elegant than fruit forward, I would state this wine is medium weight with well balanced tannin versus fruit. Seems ready to drink now given its balance.

I tasted this blind against 13 other Cabs from the area, many much older. Had I tasted it on its own with dinner I would surely given it a much higher score. It needs more time and it is not a style to compete in such an event as it is more elegant austere style that shines on it own with its balance.

PHMG WAG: 2013 Napa Reds (Lyon Valley) : Strange that there are no CT notes yet... This wine is inky dark purple in the glass and the nose is open. There's blueberry, raspberry, black plum, earth, and spice all reflected on the palate but no "wow". Medium depth and length. QPR: sschlppppptht. Maybe wait a year?
