My first exposure to a wine from the Kröv village, from memory. Light gold in colour, with a straightforward peach and cream theme on the nose supplemented with some ripe citrus fruit. The nose follows through to the palate, which has a dab of orange citrus on entry. Good density, length and concentration. Proper spätlese and still plenty of vigour, as evidenced by the slight spritz even after two hours. Between very good and very good plus.

This is in a nice place right now. While it has pronounced and racy acidity, the fruit is quite vibrant at this point and complements the acidity well. While richer than the Kabinetts, this is still a very elegant wine that pirouettes rather than plods.

#06-09, 7.5% abv. Shockingly different from my last bottles of this. This is resolved and drinking very well right now. There is no reductive stink, but plenty of more mature fruit. Comes across riper than I would expect for the vintage and the new-wave winemaker, but the crispness and balance with the sweetness now make for a very light and delicious counterbalance to Szechuan food.

#06-09, 7.5% abv. This has shed much of the reduction that I noted in my note over seven years ago. The nose now shows a bit of slatey minerality, coupled with some muted honey/floral notes. This doesn't seem to have a particularly potent fruit profile, perhaps a function of the vintage. On the palate, this is moderately sweet and drinks more like a riper Kabinett than a Spätlese (or maybe my palate has been too affected by Prädikat creep), but …

Mosel Fine Wines rates it 90/100, and suggests drinking until 2023. It seemed rather developed on the nose already at first pour, and also on the palate. Initially the acidity was quite muted, and the beginning tertiary notes were dominating. As it opened up about 4 hours later, the acidity was as racy as can be, the fruit was very zesty, and the mature notes were well intertwined with the rest. I reckon this could go another 10 years for …

Solid spatlese with the right amount of age. Nice golden color, some secondary notes at this point. Wouldn't be in a hurry to drink up, but would probably do so within 3-5.

Fragrant and opulent, lots of petrol and mineral. Some bread notes, the wine has a lot of breadth and concentration. Its lovely and sweet and just enough acidity poking through. Great length and has a good few years still in it. Quality bottle of wine, showing well at 10 years old. It did take 30 minutes to open up, so would suggest sticking in a jug for half an hour. Day Two - the sweetness drops a touch showing the …

this just needs a long time to come into what it can be. it's fine now, even delicious, but will seem ripe and one dimensional to most. 3 days open and it just started to show me some angles. has serious potential but only for the crazy patient.

A "wow" Spatlese for sure! Complexity and perfection on the level of seeetness. Without writing a laundry list of flavors, at a high level there's savory sweetness through nutty, mint and mango tropical fruit flavors. Every sip, I discover new nuances.

From magnum. Such a spry, lively, yet balanced wine. Just a pleasure with rich fruit and refreshing acid. Impressed.

#06-09, 7.5% abv. Sulphured like an 04 Leflaive -- nosehair singeing in that department. There are some sour pineapple aromas on the nose, as well as some light florals and a touch of almond. The palate is quite strange; this almost comes across as overripe, with extremely fleshy fruit. There's ample acidity here, but this is definitely an unbotrytised Auslese in a Spaetlese bottle for a Spaetlese price. I love it. Bring on the Praedikat creep!

Zippy and vibrant aromas with some diesel. Lovely and smooth palate. Really love the texture, which is rich and lovely. Soft finish and not quite enough acidity to balance the sugar. Tart, but a little flat compared to the palate.

Momofuku Ko beverage pairing (Momofuku Ko, New York) : Paired with frozen and shaved foie gras, lychee, pine nut, riesling jelly. Wonderful wine and pairing. Minerality, acidity, clean fruit.

Day 2 in the Mosel - Egon Muller, A.J. Adam, & Vollenweider (Mosel Saar Ruwer - Germany) : Off the charts! Tons of stony fruit, tones of petrichor, with integrated acidity and soft touches of floral notes. Beautiful wine.

Just like my last bottle. Rich, luscious fruit accented by honey and florality with a mineral base beneath, and powerful acidity balancing the sweetness here. Great to drink with cheese at the end of a meal.

More Auslese than Spätlese (not a shock given the vintage), but this is really good. Packed with a spectrum of fruit ranging from classic Mosel apple/citrus flavours to riper pineapple and mandarin orange notes, bright florality and some sponti yeast funk, it's quite ripe and sweet but beneath the sugar there's powerful acidity that keeps this incredibly well balanced. Fantastic depth and length, and I'm glad I have more.

Tasting at Weingut Vollenweider (Traben-Trarbach, Germany) : When Mosel Riesling is fermented with native yest, it's common for the nose to be very stinky when finished. This character will disappear in time, but in newly released wines, it can be really strong. The nose on this wine was still dominated by the "sponty", so I didn't score the wine. This doesn't do much to the flavors though, so I've included notes on them. Juicy red apples show on the palate …
