Only the second vintage (77% Cab, 14% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot), tasted blind with the Chateau Pontet Canet 2009 (60% Cab, 33% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Cab Franc), very fruit forward aromatics, blackberry, currants, graphite, long finish, most of the group preferred the RdV, likely because it was so fruit forward compared to the tighter more tannic Pauillac.

Decanted, tasted over 4 hours. Smoothed out and fantastic. Some early funk on first taste evened out. Well balanced, moderate fruit on body and finish. Wish I had more to taste through the years. Still youthful

Superb. Enjoyed a bottle last night at the Inn at Little Washington. This bottle really showed the aging potential of Lost Mountain. It could easily go another 10+ years. Big nose of black fruit, a hint of leather and oak. Inky dark purple. Still plenty of fruit, black cherries, blackberries. Very smooth.

superb, full bodied, lush with currants, berries, minerals, rich mouth feel, long finish, consumed blind during dinner with multiple Bordeaux (Margaux 82, Lynch Bages 2000/89, La Conseillante 89, etc), easily held it's own, identified by most as a left bank Bordeaux

Decanted for 2 hours. Generally well made, but the oak seems a bit disjointed. Medium to dark fruit. Lots of acidity. Mid-palate sort of dies out. Finished with vanilla and some chocolately notes that went to a bit of bitterness.

Very nice VA wine which is quite comparable to CA (rich dark red fruit) and FR (silky smooth and long finish). The only drawback for me with this bottle is the French oak has not fully integrated and was quite prominent. Otherwise, this wine would score at least 2-3 points higher.

AHA Hearts Delight - USA Wine Tasting : Must be the most powerful and best Red I have tasted from Virginia. The petit verdot comes through heavily and this has a very dry finish. No a California cab at all
