Last bottle. Good timing. Worth finishing up soon as acidity has gone. Serve more chilled than you would have done a year ago.

Gold in the glass, long legs, not as floral/apricot as lesser viognier, LONG finish. Rich but with a steely core. Excellent. Drink this year, or just into next.

Is this why I no longer drink much Viognier? The flavors in this wine are very good, lots of honey and stone fruits, but completely lacking in acidity. It is a rare night that I don't finish my half of the wine, but my palate just got too fatigued. 5 more bottles left, and they need to be drunk soon, but I can't get excited about it. I gave it an 87 because there is nothing wrong with this bottle …

Medium gold color with mineral on the nose. The palate is a surprise of apple, butterscotch, peach pit and honey, yet the wine is dry. Alcohol is beautifully balanced, and the mouth feel is full and rich (just shy of oily.) There is so much going on here, I imagine one will taste something different over time. Unique and a real pleasure.

At Pierre Orsi. Very similar to my experience from one year ago. The nose evokes the same panoply of fruit, stone and floral aromas. The palate does not display the oily character noted before, but instead it is completely silky with a stony quality. Truly pleasurble, almost exciting.

What a brilliant Condrieu - probably best I ever tasted. Gooseberries, apricots. Silky and luscious.

Absolutely wonderful Viognier. Impressive floral bouquet with a touch of citrus. Like being in someone's rose garden next to an orange grove. Rich oily flavors of crème fraîche, mangoes and lychee. Great acidic balance and minerality on the finish.

Dinner Marche Ed Rebecca -- waaaahhhh, my last bottle, and showing great. Classic nose of garden of flowers, apricot, white rose, violet and a touch of lychee. Silky on the palate and well balanced, always a stunning white!

Gary Rona Cyn dinner -- showing a bit more heavy handed this time, with much less of that explosive floral freshness of 6 months ago. Still a nice ultra ripe peach, pear and candied apricot. Just lots less of the wonderful heady violet and white flowers.

Xanh Cyn Ro et al -- Amazing aromatics as always, like walking into a garden in full bloom (violet, lavender, white rose, honeysuckle). A touch more heavy handed on the palate this time, esp with some heavier fish dishes, maybe better as an aperitif to purely enjoy its aromatic delicacy.

Truly, there's an explosion of aromas from the glass (closed on opening - but was fully open in 15 minutes). Honeyed apricot, pineapple, flowers and a hint of orange. Palate is full of layered flavors and there's an oilyness that is absolutely balanced by acidty and mineral. A unique and wonderful white.

Dinner at Chez TJ Elvin and gang -- monumental Condrieu, explodes from the glass with a garden of white flowers from honeysuckle to orange blossom to white rose. Lavender emerges, as does violet, orange oil, candied apricot and honey. Seamless on the palate with a great balance of flamboyant Viognier character and refreshing cleanness. The aromatics alone on this had the table swooning, it was like a walk in a spring garden! Maybe at a "perfect" drinkability window?

Cyn dinner for Rob and gang -- Fresh, floral and ethereally balanced. Has that wonderful violet and orange blossom floral nose, a rich ripe apricot and fresh sliced pear element to the palate. Maybe a tad flamboyant for some, but I am a sucker and think this is a great aperitif (even went well with the first few courses of halibut and finger foods).
