Dinner w/ Doug & Sena & Alex & David...Sadly, Rob Was There Too (Doug & Sena's) : Medium yellow colored with flavors of yellow apples/yellow fruits with a nutty finish. Bone dry, medium+ bodied with a subtle oiliness...the wine might have been slightly oxidized, but possibly just past it's prime. Paired very well with a sweet corn soup, was less enamored in the absence of food. Drink now.

A cornucopia of flavors, and definitely (for me) an unusual wine. Full bodied, and full throttled. I liked it.

Celebration Lunch at Kel's (Kelvin and Joyce's Place, Bishan) : This was an interesting and very enjoyable blend of Malvasia, Riesling, Tocai Fruilano and Chardonnay. It had a really expressive nose, full of lychee and roses with a little hint of mineral and exotic spice behind. I thought it smelt for all the world like Rose Ispahan macarons. Nice. The palate had the creamy, waxy texture of a white Rhone, with another lovely waft of lychees and rose on the attack …

Brown Bag Wine Dinner at Two Chefs - Double Blind; 10/9/2012-10/10/2012 (TWO CHEFS, MIAMI, FL) : - Light gold color. It's in total harmony with a medium body. Bright texture with a long finish - Alvaro's wine. Deliciou.

A bruising wine. The 14% alcohol much in evidence on the nose and palate. Texturally and aromatically this reminded me very much of a Condrieu from a hot vintage. While the overall package is quite impressive in he way it's put together, I found it difficult to appreciate more than 2 glasses.

Salone di Grandi Vini Bianchi (Mirabelle Restaurant Austin, Texas) : A blend of Malvasia, Tocai Friulano, and Riesling. Light straw color, the wine was light, feminine, dry, and floral, with mineral, flowers, and citrus on the nose, a good balance, and noticeable minerality, tropical fruit, soft grapefruit, sour apple, and grass/hay on the palate. Well-liked by all, it had a nice mid-palate and finish. Very enjoyable and the second favorite wine of the six bottle flight among three tasting groups.

The nose was amazingly fragrant and continued to pick up nuances as it sat in the glass. A bouquet of spring flowers, tart lemon, peach, orange skins and green apple dazzled the senses. On the palate, it showed a medium weight with a citrus zing, more floral notes and stone fruits. The finish was long with sour citrus fruits, yet mouthwatering and begging you to take another sip.

Smoky, maybe a bit tired.

Look old, yes, and the smokiness could just be ripeness sliding into age. But still a pleasant and unusual package.

This seems to be in decline. Alarmingly advanced color. Really just not that good.

Ripe, a bit of a burnt toast note, but good character.

Really enjoyed this. Deep straw gold. Medium/full bodied, with some obvious spicy oak, yet the components come together into not only an interesting white blend, but a good one. Awash with apricot, minerality, honey and pepper.

Interesting, but overall less pleasant than the Chardonnay. Very thick and viscous. This had a nose like strong beer hops and perhaps lanolin. Thick oily texture was more like Rhone white than anything else. This may need some time to pull itself together. Who knows, with this sort of material, and this oak treatment, perhaps, like a Rhonish white, this wine will maybe show its best in ten or twenty. Who knows? But for now, not all that great.

Really like this wine. Smoky and spicy oak, with fruit to back it up.

Interesting white blend with a little citrus fruit, lots of mineral and a taste of sweet. Went well with proscuito and melon.

Interesting and complex nose. Sweet and sharply mineral. Very interesting wine.

Showing beautifully. Soft straw color, it is not the Chard that dominates the nose but the tropical fruits and spice of the other grapes in the blend. I last had this a year ago and thought it was at peak. It might have been, but in the interim, the wine has softened a bit and gained body and roundness in place of its earlier angularity. No reason not to drink this now, but it will hold for a while longer.

Opened this last night with pesto and salad. It's developed nicely and is now at peak, I'd say. Fabulous floral, peach, apricot nose. Very well balanced in the mouth, with rich mouthfeel, depth, good fruit, and just the right amount of acid. Honey-apricot dominated on the finish in a nice way.

A blend of Chardonnay, Malvasia, Riesling, and Tocai. Unoaked. It has enormous depth, full bodied, high viscosity. Sharp edged, spicy, clove with citrus zest flavors. Peppery. Reminds me in some ways of a Gwertztraminer. A wine that definately needs food, it went well with a pasta dish sauced with fresh tomatoes and spinach. Would work better with a flavorful seafood dish.
