Mathilde et Yves Gangloff Côte-Rôtie La Serene Noire

Wine was open but also reductive at first, with a big smoky nose. After an hour decant it dissipated to give place to a beautiful meaty, flowery nose. Lots of white pepper as you would expect. The tannins are quite nice right now. There is still lots of structure on this wine. This is still quite primary and just entering its drinking phase. There is still a lot of life left in this wine but it still drinks quite nicely …

Vertical tasting of 4 Gangloff Barbarine 15-16-17-18, 1 Gangloff Serene 14 and 1 Jamet 2017

This was drinking beautifully, lots of notes of violets and blue fruits, great balance, decanted for 4 hours

Very cold nose of characoal, nice metallic, very dark cold fruit, hint of nice metallic… Loads of silky but cold tannin, blueberrires, dark cold fruit… And very typical Gangloff signature!!

Enjoyed at the Chiltern Firehouse restaurant in London. Lovely ruby color, dark red fruit on the nose. On the palate a wonderful balance of forest fruit, earthiness, leather, with medium tannins and acidity. A well-structured wine with dense layers of flavor. Perfect with our Iberico ham and roast chicken. Expert assistance from the Chiltern’s somm.

La Tablee: Seminar Terroirs of Cote Rotie (Daniel) : This is also great. It's brambles and blackberries and raspberries and exotic spices. Very soft and supple and well done. A bit of pepper and spice towards the end. Really very nice. From the 'old vines' that Yves managed to buy back in the early 80's. Now around 60-80 years old.

Even though super young, is is already beautiful. Complex concentration of bacon, blackberry and blueberry aromas.
