Dark fruits on the nose especially with black currant. Incredibly smooth. An amazing smooth wine. Paired with pork loin. Perfectly balanced.

This has been a very good vintage. I started out with a case after we had a tasting in the Reservge Cellar in the old Tasing location. We have enjoyed this every year or so. This is my last bottle of the '08.

I love this wine. Sadly the last of a case bought at auction for $85 per bottle. After an hour of air time. Big rich nose. Tar, graphite, menthol, blackberry jam, chocolate shake. Velvet long finish, fresh acidity. I will finish this bottle with sadness.

I’m getting on the nose a vegetal green pepper thing. Takes me out of France for sure despite its efforts to imitate. . The palate, wow, blows up with no excess sweetness but enough, herbs, forest floor,licorice, (sorry i read a review first and can’t escape that) and just perfect harmony. Soft tannin finish. Spectacular. Seemed maybe slightly past peak on opening, but some minor bitterness blew off after about 30 minutes in the decanter, and was otherwise fantastic with ribeye. I'm doubtful that this will continue to improve, and will endeavor to consume my last remaining bottle with the next 2-3 years.

Surprisingly good, still plenty of fruit, nice aromatics, tannins fully integrated. I like this better than 07 Mondavi Reserve.

I’ve tasted both 07 & 08 recently. This 08 was quite impressive, good fruit flavors, fully integrated tannins. Better than the 07 I drank.

Nez mentholé, fruit noir, un peu de torréfaction. Bouche puissante et encore jeune, qui n’a pas développé le côté vieux Bordeaux que cette cuvée a souvent. C’est goûteux et assez profond, mais l’alcool est quand même bien présent et le vin unidimensionnel. C'est une déception car je n’y trouve pas la finesse des vins des années '90 de cette cuvée, évoquant Pauillac. Assez banal en l'état, quoique bien fait. 90 pts

Popped n poured. No need to decant. Great nose straight out of the bottle. Silky plush. Like falling into a black velvet sofa. The nose was waves of red licorice, tar, cherry coke, slight menthol. Great mouthfeel and just enough tannin and acid to keep it lively…about to finish last of it 1.5 hours post-opening; still going strong but not necessarily better.

Nosecof leather throughout with a taste of dark fruit and expressive chocolate. Nice long finish with silky tannins. Great steak wine!!

Decanted for one hour. Nose of ripe blackberry, currant, mocha, cedar, anise and spice. Black and red fruit, cedar, graphite, licorice and spice on the palate. Long finish. Full bodied. Served with grilled, marinated sirloin steak.

Decanted 2 hours. Sadly I did not get to it until last half glass in the decanter. But oh so smooth. Velvety, plush. Brambly blackberries, jammy, graphite, but still light on its feet. Not pruny or heavy. 15.5% alcohol but doesn’t feel like it. Enough acid and tannins to cut thru the richness of chicken curry rice. Really a treat.

Fabulous wine in a perfect place right now. Perfect balance of fruit, acidity, and integrated tannins. Feels like this will be in this optimal drinking window for another 5 years or so. I have 2 more of these and will try to drink within the next 5-7 years

Popped and poured in hotel quarantine. Part of my survival stash that I packed in my luggage. The nose was a bit muted, possibly because I was drinking it from a plastic cup. As I swirled it in my mouth, I did get quite tasty notes of blackberry, blueberry, toasted wood, and that Napa Valley dust that I enjoy. Tannins present but not overwhelming. Tasted blind. Dark berries, cedar, and a bit of funk on the nose. The nose was quite expressive at first, but I felt it shut down a bit in the glass over time. Medium acidity, but very ripe on the palate with mostly dark fruit flavors. Medium finish. This was just too ripe and nothing special...
