Saturated, very dark red violet color; ripe plum, berry, dried berry nose; ripe berry, black cherry, black plum palate with some balancing acidity; medium-plus finish (lacking in complexity and structure; 14% alcohol; natural cork)

Eh. Just kind of generic red wine-y. Fine, not noteworthy in any way. Not worth it.

Similar to last note. Would recommend finishing this vintage over the next two years. No decant.

Dark Ruby color, earthy nose with anise notes. Could use a little time in the cellar but won’t ever be great.

Nice fruits upfront. Medium concentration. I don’t like the acid and bitter finish. Bad bottle ?

Full bodied, dense with some muted black fruits and finishing acidity. Decent drinker with food but not memorable.

Needs about a half an hour in the glass. Dark fruit leather and tobacco with tame tannins.

Very dark, dense and dry. Not much fruit, primarly burnt toast and black currant with finishing tannin and acidity. Yet in some ways enjoyable. Almost like a young heavy Bordeaux.

Wonderfully balanced dark fruit and tannins not very complex with a soft finish. Perhaps a little tobacco and leather in the mid-palate. Nice wine drinking well. Paired nicely with mediterranean fare and lamb.

Darker in color. Nose of spice, earth and then vanilla. Cherry flavors with too much vanilla. Seemed to decline with time; I actually enjoyed this wine with less air time (decanted) rather than later.

Visually very dense. Floral and spice on the nose. Dark cherry, hint of vanilla and spice. Paid $30 for a single bottle at the neighborhood wine shop. On the fence if it demands the price.

Drank over two nights, first with grilled steak & frites, then with mushroom pasta. Fine smooth red fruit with light tannin and very mild acid underpinnings. Slightly herbal/floral nose that was present from start to finish. A bit of cedar and vanilla. Rich but never quite being full bodied. Enjoyable if not especially remarkable.

Colour is still violet. The bouquet starts with cherry liquor, rum and vanilla but closes down pretty quickly. After a few hours it opens up again to offer some liquorice and darker fruit. On the palate its still very primal with lots of tannins. It's missing some balance and finesse. The question is if everything will come together, the rating is based on potential.

Hot and oaky attack, some unpleasant buttery-ness to the oak, but the fruit has a nice chalkiness to it and a hint of floral lift. Improves with significant air but there are better Riberas for less. Just too international for my taste, also.

Opened for 30 min. It took about an hour to open up in glass but eventually offered an exhuberant bouquet with blue berries, forrest floor and a balsamic touch with mint. On palate this was rich with medium sweet tannins, and comparing to the bottle from a year ago, it did not have any hard edges as it had a rounded mouth feel. Very pleasurable to drink and a good pairing for tapas. An early decantacion would have benefited the …

Black and concentrated colour. Powerfull, plenty of good matery and so young to enjoy with a lot of wood, cacao and licorice, ending on a second stage with black fruits. Remembering a Toro wine. Medium to long finish. Best at third day. Hold.

At Montiel. Intense inky purple/black fruit, quite extracted but does have some smokey earthy complexity. A little too modern than I usually like but it's quite well made and a good value.

Tasted at La Musica del Vi. Surprisingly good… just like almost every 2009 Ribera del Duero.Intense nose, kirsch liquor, ripe fruit. On palate hard tannins, sweet, mouth coating, very remarkable floral finish. Long finish. Excellent QPR!
