Guys Night Out at Bones (Atlanta, GA) : Guys Night Out at Bones in Atlanta. Great pairing with the bacon on the salad. Dark fruit. Expressive nose and super easy to drink. No alcohol taste. What I thought was super cool about tasting this wine was that I had visited Palisades Vineyard (tasting the inaugural "Palisades Canyon" PS with Steve and Felicia) a few months ago and had never heard about this producer. Will look to acquire some of his …

Choosing not to score. This bottle was exposed to moderate heat in basement, in 2018. Fruit is somewhat muted, low tannins, medium acidity with slight bitterness. Did not taste like petites should taste, confirming that it has degraded. Will taste other 2 bottles to confirm, while also comparing to 2015s

This was excellent. Pure PS goodness in all its forms while maintaining well behaved tannin. What more could you want?

Just outstanding PS from a legend of a winemaker and one of the 'Premiere Cru' Vineyards for the variety. While this will probably be at peak in 5+ years, I'm still blown away by how approachable it is currently. Medium+ bodied and more blue fruited vs. Black with only a slightly tannic finish. Just gushing with acidity (especially for a PS) and flat out delicious. Hats off to the one and only Joel Peterson yet again!

Good wine - in a good spot now. Not sure if additional age will add anything.

PnP, consumed over 2 hours first night and tasted the next night. Black Cherry, graphite, eucalyptus, blueberry, dried dill, whiff of mesquite. Tannins a bit coarse, better the second night. Probably will improve in the coming few years.

14.01% abv. Recent auction purchase (2 bottle lot, this was 1st of those). I don't drink much PS, but based on variety reputation and CT notes on this wine, I was expecting a burly, dark-fruited, tannic beast. Almost the opposite, actually. While I wouldn't call this delicate by any means, this was tart and red-fruited, with lithe fruit and unremarkable tannin. Consistent on the second evening, perhaps slightly more integrated (vacuum sealed and refrigerated). I enjoyed this, but found it …

Nose had a top note of orange zest and tomato leaf, heart note of menthol, maybe some red fruit and cedar on the base. Nearly opaque with no sediment. Nice acid and balance with the tannin more resolved than my last bottle--but still prominent; they give a hairy long finish. Still needs some bottle time or a long decant. I somehow don't thing this is ever going to come together. It got worse as it was open with day three …

No notes beyond that this wine needs time in bottle or a solid (1+ hour) decant. I drank this bottle over three days and it hit its stride on day 2. Day 1 I only ran the wine through a Vinturi and it was tannic and didn’t offer much fruit. Day 3 the wine had lost some of its structure and energy. All things equal, I would sit on this bottling at least another year.

Inky, dark color--exactly what I want to see in a PS. Surprisingly fruit nose. Nice on the tongue, blackberry but then, quickly, I get slate. Orange zest sensations on the edges of the tongue. Plum under the rear palate. Still quite tannic. Anise sensation on the finish. Very enjoyable now, but I am glad that I have more which will stay sideways for several more years.

Opened, and let the wine sit with the cork out. Poured into Govino plastic cups. Dark purple ink. Nose offers dark fruits - cherries and blueberries and followed by black pepper. rich and deeply concentrated, there is a lot going ion in the glass. Sufficient acidity. Some tannins show on the finish but they do not dominate the wine. Nicely balanced. Enjoyable. This is a big wine - make no mistake. The wine is well-made and while rich in flavor, …

From the famous Palisades PS vineyard, this wine shows deep crimson purple/black to the core. Powerful aromas of blackberry and blueberry. Tannins here are still huge - wine needed some air to smooth out but could prob go another 5+ years easily. A nice balance of acidity here which was nice to see compared to a lot of fruit bomb PS.

Nose of blue berries, varnish, and orange rind. Not much going on yet. Still firm tannin and lots of acid. Still a baby and hopefully bit shut down. Short acidic finish.

Holy Schniekes! Black as ink is right! Just a beautiful bottle of PS. I've read that the Palisades Vineyard is famous for Petite Sirah, and if this bottle is any indication, that reputation is well deserved. This is super plush with bold dark fruit flavors, it's smooth as silk and was a joy to drink. I appreciate an uncomplicated wine...just open, pour, use any glass and enjoy. No air necessary. It'll hold for a while, but is drinking so beautifully …

Black as ink. 14% ABV. Brooding nose of black fruits, road tar and creosote. Full bodied with mouth watering acidity. Rich, concentrated and absolutely packed with fruit. Black cherry, blackberry liqueur, licorice and pepper on the palate. The finish is exceptionally long with silky, mouth drying tannins. No harm in drinking a bottle now but this will also keep for another decade.

Wow. Smooth soft no bite petite sirah. I see the drink by dates but it's wonderful right now. Enjoy.

PNP and showing amazingly well! Nose of red berries, mint, graphite and light caramel. Full round palate with notes of blue fruit, tar and woody herbs. Finish is long, well integrated with smooth but drying tannins. Shockingly fine to drink now but should go another 7+ years.

Well this one has certainly opened up a lot since our last bottle over two years ago. Very deep, rich with cola, purple fruits and vanilla.

Nose has fruit leather, sour cherry candy, and some cigar box. Loads of red fruit on the palate. Nice acidity, soft mouthfeel, and decent length finish. It fades into a healthy dose of tannin that could use some time to resolve. Good now for a pnp but this has really nice upside in a few years. Lots of sediment in the bottle. Careful decanting recommended. Day 2: red fruit is more pronounced on the nose and the palate darkened just …

Another great bottle that was again surprisingly accessible (wanted to make sure my last one in Nov wasnt a fluke ;). LOTS of life left and room for improvement, but if you have multiples and want to get a feel for the style, no harm in popping one now. Same notes as before apply. Life is good!

I found the 14 Once & Future available for a silly good price so I popped one just to check in and am glad that I did. Surprisingly, this bottle was wide open with dusty blue fruits, a nice amount of acidity, and a long finish. Tannins, while definitely present, were not overwhelming. A very impressive and very tasty PS that should age well for a long time. Needless to say, I snagged some more.

Had this about a year ago and it was delicious but very young. Decanted this one six hours before trying and it was completely shut down, the wine in the glass smelled like it was ten feet away, almost no flavor at all. After ten hours in the decanter it was still the same. Poured the rest back in the bottle and tried two days later and only slightly more open. I would try these on release but after that …

Following the ‘14 Mending Wall Palisades PS. This wine comes across much differently. Lighter in color, morw purple than black. Nose initially showing blackberry and boysenberry, fresh sweet smelling wth a hint of menthol. While the Mending Wall was round and deep this wine is angular with tart berries, wet stones and chalk. Edgy and raw. The finish is abrupt followed by a wall of gritty tannin. I like this but I’ll love it in 7-10yrs when it matures a …
