Deep garnet, good intensity on the nose of pepper and game and dark red fruit. Palate continues the moody red fruit and smoke. This has plenty of depth and freshness and the tannins are fully resolved. A very nice example of Cali Syrah done classically.

This still has life! It has lightened up a bit. Smokey and meaty but still has some fruitiness.

Big Arcadian Tasting in ATL (1997-2008) (Antico Posta) : My favorite of the three Syrahs. For drinking now. Terrific Northern Rhone-ish nose that is peppery and meaty. Smells great. The palate is marked with secondary fruit and a iron and saline finish. In the groove.

Decaturwinedude's note is spot on. Hugely aromatic nose tips it's cap to the Northern Rhone with smoked black fruits, meat and florals. The palate has sweeter Cali fruit that is made complex with those smoke, meat and pepper elements. Elegant and poised. Youthfully fresh for a 16 year old Central Coast Syrah. Real nice stuff that will seemingly hold for some time.

I took this to a restaurant, decanted, shared the bottle among a group of four. Lovely classic aromas cured meats, olives, au jus gravy. very balanced wine, round tannin with nice acidity keeping the wine from feeling heavy at all. savory. long finish. Drinking great right now and likely for a few years to come. Excellent.

Probably the best showing yet on this wine for me. Terrific Northern Rhone-ish nose that is peppery, meaty, and floral. Smells great. The palate is marked with rich fruit, but buffered with acid and a meaty-salinity that is down-right savory. Long, smoked meat flavor on the back end. The mouth-feel texture is terrific and the wine drinks like a meal if that makes sense. Terrific.

Deep garnet core transitioning to brick at the rim. Nose of red and blue fruits, smoked game meat, black olive, and spice. Palate of concentrated cherries and blueberries, game meat, black olive, hint of baking spice. Vibrant acidity in the lingering finish. Paired this with filet and bernaise sauce. This wine is singing right now - seems to have quite bit of life left in it, too. Outstanding!

Good wine, earlier bottle must have been bad. This cork was in good shape compared to last bottle.

From recent library release… cork broke and crumbled when opening. Wine was flat and pretty dead. Hope other bottles are better but will have to see.

Super reductive on opening, and funky and muted for a good while after. Started to young up after about 2 hours in the decanter, and improved for another hour or two beyond that. That said, it just doesn't seem like this really has the structure left to age gracefully much beyond where it is now. I've also noted a lot of bottle variation on these - those early 2000 corks Joe was using just aren't holding up that well in …

Cork crumbled for us. But taste was fine.

I thought Decaturwinedude's recent note was spot on. A bit atypical for an Arcadian wine with more fruit than acid, but enjoyable none the less and paired nicely with an arugula and skirt steak salad.

Terrific Northern Rhone-ish nose that is peppery, meaty, and floral. Smells great. Palate, unfortunately, falls a little flat. The fruit is here, but it lacks an edge, some acidity to liven things up. The wine turns a bit grape-y with air. It's a good wine. I'd happily drink it again. But perhaps doesn't reach the heights of some of Joe's other wines. Maybe it's a 2000 thing, I don't drink enough CA wine to know.

Cork crumbled. Something not quite right about it. Pretty sure we waited to long. Shucks.

Well jeez-louise! Finally a red wine to break my streak of average or worse red wines. I'm thinking of Frodo grabbing the ring and committing to destroying it for the sake of all. Please, don't take that statement as me thinking of Arcadian as an underdog, it is just that when I bought most of the highly allocated and highly disappointing red wines that I am muddling through -and selling off- today, Arcadian was probably near the bottom of my …

Took to an SLH (mostly Garys') tasting. Terroir in America, folks. Rocky, crunchy, subtle and lively. And indeed hard to mentally entertain that it is 11 years old.

Barely showing its 11 years of age - maybe a slight clearing at the rim, maybe the smooth, resolved tannins give it away, but just maybe. Full of sandalwood, blackberry, leather, olive, herbs and hint of menthol. The lively acidity brings some cranberry to the picture - and yet all of this manages to hang on a welterweight frame. Beautiful with a pot roast, and really a testament to what Central Coast syrah can be. As with all of Joe's …

This was my last bottle, and it was still great, but time is not on its' side. A bit brown in color, and the cork crumbled when opened. Still one of my favorite wines from this region.

Cannot change my opinion on this one. Delightful aroma and very smooth at this stage. Have one bottle left that will be saved for a special occasion.

Last bottle, and how it has changed over the years. Absolutely wonderful right now. Showing a tint of brown around the edges, but has mellowed into a delightful bottle.
