Medium gold. Closed initially, took some time to open up to pronounced aromas of lemon, apricot, cream, nutmeg, smoke, sesame, and wet stone. High acidity, medium+ body, and long finish. The strong minerality akin to licking rocks cuts through the slightly creamy richness perfectly. A pity that we drank it too fast!

A lovely showing from the 2014 Roulot Perrières, mixing stone fruit and citrus, yuzu, flint, and crème pâtissière. Complete with very nice depth and a lingering finish. The bar is high (and probably raised by its high price subconsciously, even though I do not think that should influence scores whatsoever) and I wonder if this bottle quite cleared it on this occasion.

Burgundy for Lunch Bunch (Scottsdale, Arizona USA) : Intense minerality, palate staining chalky texture, this is potent with balance and elegance. However there's a touch of something a bit unusual, served blind I guessed maybe it was the '16 vintage which sometimes presents a bit oddly. In the final analysis, this was a good wine but seems painfully young, and to my taste not nearly the quality of the stellar '14 Lafon Meursault Perrieres which has been so consistent across …

Sadly, this was too advanced. There was something lovely and cool and stony, but the wine’s detail had been planed off by some oxidation.

Drinking well with no premox. Apple, lemon zest, grassy notes, excellent balance. Others may have liked it even more than me

very excited to get to try this, but the relatively dark orange color forbode disappointment. still with decent acidity and the group didnt think premox per se, but i've had enough roulot to recognize this wasnt a prime showing.

Richebourg and Meursault : Quick decant. Needed tons of air. So much acid on the forefront and hidden fruit. Just tasted painfully young especially against the 2020 Bouzereau that was wide open.

Tasted blind, this wine had a medium yellow center and clear rims. The medium- intensity nose put forth lemon zest, vanilla, and almond paste notes. It was still pretty tight. In the mouth, this wine was light and refined with firm acidity, most likely due to the fact that it was still pretty young and tight. It had very good length. I suspect there is another point or two of upside coming in the future. This wine needed a lot …

Visibly darker in the glass but not completely brown. Not fresh, not correct. Could be undetectable cork taint that is muting the wine because this is just completely flat / dead. Stripped.

3rd of 3, pnp, apparently perfect cork and level, smelled fresh enough on pulling cork BUT fell apart as it hit the glass, as last June's bottle but even more so, drinkable maybe but too flabby and lightly poxed for pleasure, especially when you know what it should be. Av (13)..........ANOTHER ROULOT DISASTER.....he's having a laugh at our expense!!!!

Ordered this 2004 Roulot Meursault Perrieres from a restaurant wine list. Lots of drive and freshness. Forward white tree fruits and supple spices. However if we had to split hairs here, it was more simple and forward than more recent vintages of Roulot Meursault Perrieres. Nonetheless it’s still very enjoyable and drinking beautifully. (91/100)

the last of my bottles and how very wonderful it was too - quite a pale yellow - an iron fist in a velvet glove - excellent!

Paler golden color. Notes of flint, smoke, chalky minerality, also some oystershells, mint, white flowers, some sweet spices, greenish apple, citrus, also some pear, musky notes too. It‘s medium-full bodied, has excellent persistence, but an overall lightish mouthfeel, there is also a touch of adstringency to it too. High acidity providing excellent tension. Long finish that won‘t end…. A superb, but still very young Roulot Perrières. This will show even better with some air and/or age. Love it.

Disappointing vs. expectations and not entirely sure what to make of this one. Not giving up a ton on the nose right now. There's an impression of ripe fruit but it's buried by loads of searing acid. A bit disjointed. Improved a bit on day 2 so maybe becomes more harmonious with time but not sure where this ends up. 90+?

2nd of 3, pnp, apparently perfect cork and level, heightened colour but not obviously poxed, tired and flabby though and without usual whack of lemon zest. Technically just about G (15) but a travesty for Perrieres of this age in this vintage and frankly at this price!

1st of 3, opened 30 minutes, perfect level, soggy cork end - palish gold, bright, quite leggy; apples and pears, significant citric element, muted salinity and minerality; medium, decent length and persistent, some nuance, tad sharp and unbalanced, underpowered and lacking harmony, but no pox, no upside, probably best to drink nearish term. F (17.5)......disappointing in context of reputation and terrible RQP.

Fifteenth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Lake Bluff, IL) : In 2007 Coche-Dury, Colin-Morey, Lafon, Roulot horizontal. So much stone fruit with candied lemon peel, toasted hazelnut and a faint hint of butterscotch. Very dense and long. Great wine, but this bottle would probably have been even better a year or two ago.

HDH Dec auction trip/dinners at SKY and RPM Italian; 12/13/2018-12/15/2018 : Holy shit. Well, this is absolutely epic. I cannot imagine Burgundy being better than this. The flavours are classic Roulot - fresh citrus fruits, herbs, and intense minerality accented by oak, sulfur, and reduction, but it's the sheer scale and depth here that are mindblowing. The balance is impeccable; there's immense depth and power here, but also a sense of quiet understatement to how the flavours are conveyed, and …

HDH December auction; 12/13/2018-12/15/2018 (Chicago, IL) : This is, for me, alongside certain Coches, the end of chardonnay. I cannot see chardonnay ever getting better this. The nose has a gentle tone of struck matchstick and flint, with some tart citrus notes as well. There's a slight hint of something herbal as well. The palate starts off with some ripe fruit that is completely dry. Peaches, perhaps? Then you get that minerality that just comes at you in waves. It's …

I have found the Roulot wines heavier on minerality and lighter on fruit and this wine is no exception. Bitter chalkiness and flint hit the palate before citrus and peach notes emerge. This wine does not have a great track record of aging into something enticing for me, except for the fabulous 2007, so this is a wait-and-see situation. The wine definitely promises longevity, as the re-corked bottle did not lose freshness for weeks. I admire the structure, but can’t …

Not affected by frost in ’16 and what a wine. It is so fine, detailed and compact. You feel every rocky bump in the wine and there’s citrus and white peach fruits of astounding purity. It is intense and crackles with energy. The finish drives on and on.

14 white Burgs are crushing it. And Roulot really crushed it with this Perrieres. Highly complex nose. Amazing bouquet of lemon, nuts, minerals, white and yellow flowers. Leesy. Very very good and very open for business. Young but complex and so interesting.

The 2014 Perrières looks set to rank as one of Jean-Marc Roulot's all-time greats, and while it is still youthful its incredible potential is already clear to see. A classic bouquet of citrus zest, white flowers, chalky soil tones and almond cream introduces a searingly intense wine which marries striking cut and vertical tension with wonderful glossy amplitude and dimension, with profound minerality through the long, penetrating finish. A benchmark example of Roulot's singular style.

Zachys BYO Lunch in Burgundy (1243 Bourgogne Society - Beaune) : Small glass, brief note. Dense and powerful maturing orchard fruit with some lemon peel. Slightly more mature than I would prefer, so I preferred the Lafon 2004 Perrieres tasted earlier.

This is truly an exceptional wine. Lots of detail that is hard to find in other wines, citrus fruit, stony minerality, bright acidity, are all on display, clear, focused, and expressive. Ready to drink now, if you can find a bottle, but no rush. I was tasting some high-end 2010 Premier Crus side by side, and they came across as more intense but muddled in comparison.
