Still in great shape, but it's much too sweet for my liking. 16.5% Alcohol

My second (and final) bottle of this 18 months on from my last TN. And unfortunately I don't find this getting any better. Opened for an hour, decanted for a further two and then drank with a rib-eye with a sauce of mushrooms, garlic and a hint of blue cheese. The nose is (very) hot - hard to believe this is unfortified wine. There's some dark red fruit and vegetal notes. All of these follow to the palate, where some …

After really enjoying a 2009 last year (see my TN) I came to this with high hopes, and building on my experience then I decanted it at 1:30pm, put it back in the bottle at 6pm, decanted again at the restaurant at 6:30pm and started to drink around 8:30pm, firstly with a rich mushroom roulade, then with roasted hanger steak, roasted vegetables and a high umami gravy. On opening (from cellar temperature) and decanting I was a little surprised to …

Opened 2 hours before serving. Dark, nearly opaque garnet. Nose: very expressive - rather sweet and spicy - cherry, walnut, caramel, spices. Palate: integrated tannins, cherry, slightly refreshingly bitter aftertaste. Nice balance. Long finish.

Not one of the best Amarones I've tried. Big reduction upon opening, which needs hours to go away with decanting. Subtle notes of black fruit, baking spices and herbs. Modern-driven style. Lean, full-bodied with a fresh fruit character. Not much of an acidity to back up the big alcohol. Medium finish.

Full bodied Amarone with big soft tannins. Prune, dark cherry and black berry with a hint of dark chocolate. Bold classic Amarone flavors. May benefit from a few more years in the bottle.

powerful wine to finish the dinner, good sweetness, alcoholic, very strong, very long, would like to try again in 10 years.

The nose was incredibly layered and intense yet wonderfully fresh with sweet florals, medicinal black cherry, roasted almonds, dark chocolate, smoke, and crushed stone. On the palate, I found creamy, velvety textures with spiced cherry, raspberry, baked plum, cinnamon, and a hint of bitter herbs. The finish went on and on, maintaining freshness while intense tart red berry fruit saturated the senses.

Similar notes as before but came off hot and disjointed. Amazing flavors but no amount of decanting could mellow it out.

PNP without further aeration. Pungent and forward nose of black cherry, blackberry, iron, and earthy notes. Rich and full on the palate bordering on Port consistency. Assertive dark cherry, prune, and blackberry bolstered by high acidity. A tad astringent with medium tannin on the finish. I think this needs 3 years to soften and integrate. Not a Bussola TB or Zenato riserva; but a good effort.

Beautiful rich almost syrupy texture. Nose is dominated by an iron quality like a rare steak. Plalate is off the charts with fresh ground espresso, cola, blackberry extract, sweet bright cherry, chocolate, and a slight spearmint note. The tannic bite softened over a few hours in the decanter.

Nice clean profile; Hints of the port-style, semi-oxidized heavy hitter but nice character; Not as heavy as I was expecting

Leather, tobacco, and herbs, not too sweet, really good freshness for all the black fruit. Gorgeous and balanced.

Beautiful nose of sweet spices, red berries, but also some dark fruit, licorice, and some cedar wood and leather. On the palate, there are some additional notes of tobacco. Full-bodied, but not heavy, with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. It's a very dense Amarone, but not with the sometimes disturbing sweetness, it's more on the elegant side. Great length.
