In the decanter but drank immediately. Little booze, needed time to round out. Big wine, as expected, black laced, aniseed, liquorice and dark red fruits. Enjoyable, but probably not every day for me.

A touch more violet than blue berries on the nose. The toasty cinnamon and clove notes persisted from the nose to the palate. Elegant and rich. Medium-bodied structure with polished edges. Finish is clean and floral, with just some chalky tannins. Drink this with some decanting for the tannins to smoothen.

Oatley trade Tasting (Campbell's store, Circular Quay West, The Rocks, Sydney) : Plummy, rich, sweet spice, polished oak. Juicy, plummy, fleshy, less overtly oak than previous experiences with this wine, tannic grip tugs at the front of the mouth, gums and mid palate, quite chewy, fruit persists though. Nice.

First tasted this on my birthday and fell in love with the subtle peppery notes and hint of sweetness. This wine can turn a sober person around!
