NB! En del fin grums, må stå et par dager Farge: Kraftig blåfiolett Duft: Hint av 'anilin' rundet av med noe plommeaktig. Romslig bakgrunn Smak: Solide tanniner ganske rundet. Smekker kropp. Noe plomme/kreke. Hint av fiol og noe mer. Foldet seg nydelig ut etter hvert. Dag 2 Duft: Hint av 'anilin', lakris og fat. Smak: Kraftige, rundete tanniner. Miks av kreke, slåpe og noe floralt. Ettersmak av kirsebær kjerne. Rik og nyansert, svært god.

2015 vintage

Red and dark fruit, cherries, forest floor, a bit of leather, and a hint of mushrooms on the nose. Nice acidity with still quite a bit of tannic structure, tart cherries, more leather, and surprisingly fruit forward on the palate. Good finish. Lovely wine and very impressive Blaufränkisch that feels like it will continue to evolve and probably needs a bit more time. 93+

2007 vintage

Excellent wine. First nose is blackberry and oak. But the third bottle had strong notes of pepper and tobacco as well. Hints of leather and chocolate. The wine evolves several times over the course of a few hours. Highly recommend to enjoy this over a longer period of time to appreciate the nuances.

Juicy and elegant style of Blaufränkisch, very mineral. Mix of red and black berries, crisp acidity, slightly herbaceous, very fine tannins, still tastes young and fresh. Better with food. - 92 points

Brief vacation notes; 10/17/2022-10/22/2022 (Hotel Sonne, Partschins, IT) : Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Beautiful Marienthal in a very good stage! Great structure and texture, lean, cool, complex and balanced. Herbaceous and lots of crushed stones. Long finish. Potential for another decade. 93-94

A wonderful bottle - open and more approachable compared to the precious one. Cherry fruit on the layered nose as well as crushed stones, earth, smoke, spices. Tasted next to 2016 Blaufränkisch Oberer Wald. Amazing depth to the nose: darker in terms of fruit profile, cherries, but also lots of ripe dark berry fruit, liquorice, herbs and spices. On the palate less expressive in comparison at this stage. Seriously tannic, great acidity, generous fruit. Spicy, mineral and very well balanced. Very long, vibrant finish. Needs time. 94-95+

2015 vintage

Less expressive than I remember it from previous encounters. Youthful in terms of colour and also on the nose - notes of cherries, cherry stones, spices, earth, minerality. On the palate powerful and rather tight and tannic. Good acidity, nice minerality and good length. A little monolithic at this stage. Hold. 91-92+

2007 vintage

Very similar to previous bottle. Similarly backward, just a little more open and even more complex and powerful. Very impressive. Should improve further. 93-94+

Not even a hint of discolouration - very dark and youthful in colour. On the nose lots of depth - dark berry fruit, cherries, cherry kernels, spices, liquorice, smoke, crushed stones, but again rather youthful and a little tight. On the palate bright acidity, grippy tannins, lots of minerality and juicy, slightly tart red fruit. Very linear with lots of power and energy. Long and lively finish. Approacable, but should improve. Hold. 92-93+

Blaufränkisch Tasting (@Private location) : Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah Clear, dense, deep purple color. Very nice nose with eucalyptus, mint, rosemary. Dry, high, very powerful but well integrated acidity, which makes this wine quite lush. Rosemary oil, beautiful fruit, pressure on the palate, spicyness. Everything continues on the long finish. Wine was discussed a bit controversial because of its high acidity, but I really liked it. Great potential for 10+ years.

Wine & Dine with Rainer Schnaitmann and Ernst Triebaumer (Züblin Vineyard terrace, Stuttgart) : Glass: Zalto Burgundy It was great to see how this wine can develop over time. The 2007 vintage starts to show the potential of this wine but it is certainly not yet at its full peek. Very spicy, complex tertiary aromas mixed with lots of dark ripe fruits, great mouthfeel and a long finish. Drink now or keep it for 5+ more years.

92+ Dunkles Lila-Rot Schwarze Beerenfrucht,Brombeeren,Cassis,aetherisch,Malz-Harznoten,elegante-feine Holznote,ganz leicht alkoholisch,würzig(Pfeffer,Rosmarin),leichte interessante Schärfe,dicht,leicht balsamische Süsse,eleganter Körper,gute Säurestruktur,wirklich gute Länge. Auch klar jugendlich,aber lässt sich,mit genügend Luft, schon gut geniessen.
