A touch of heat, but lovely, classic Savennieres, intense and focused nose of pears and apples, white flowers, combined to bracing acidity and great minerals on the palate. Just beautiful.

Tasted alongside the 05. Just slightly ligter in color as one would expect. Aromas of apples, pear, white flowers, herbs and minerals. Interestingly, after a couple of hours the herbal aspect became very strong and then subsided to the fruit and floral aromas. Full-bodied and rich with perhaps just a touch less acidity than the 05, but still nicely balanced. Good length.

Floral aroma with Fig and Nectarine tastes. Crisp and bright tasting. Very nice with 10 month old goat cheese from Denmark.

Very pretty with lots of floral notes, expansive honeysuckle, and a light bodied lemony acid. Silky medium light weight with an acidic finish. Note of chemical petrol keeps if from being better. Still a very nice wine for a nice price. B/B-

Wine pairing at Asiate Restaurant. A very comely wine, lovely gold color, metallic and peach notes on the nose, medium body and polished mouth feel. Exellent food wine.

Medium gold color in the glass. Honey, florals, baked apple and spice on the nose and palate. Medium high acid and medium to full bodied (14% abv) with a soft, elegant, and silky mouthfeel. Medium long finish. A joy to drink.

Seems fully mature to me, which is odd considering the wine is not even 3 years old, but this seems to be the new profile for Closel. Be that as it may, the wine is completely delicious and absolutely classic Savennieres, with great honeyed waxy fruit and an airy mineral backbone. Lots of energy, well balanced even at 14% alc, this is a beauty.

Light gold in colour, with minerals, herbs, peaches and nectarines on the nose. Lovely! Classic chenin notes on the medium bodied palate, with a creamy texture, slight oxidation, wet wool, and nectarines. Young but lovely, and should age well, as it has great, juicy acidity. I'm a savennieres whore, and this was a real charmer (A-).

Loire Trip (with stops in Beaujolais and the Cote Chalonnaise); 10/2/2008-10/5/2008 : From schist. Sweetly floral aromas, but the strong acids make this a little hard in the mouth.

Great nose of white pit fruits, honey, cream. Great nervosity in the palate with a strong citrus backbone on flavors of apricot, peach, and some interesting herbal elements in the finish.
