Cork crumbled. So filter had cork and sediment. Decanter 30-45 minutes. Great fruit on the nose. Smooth tannins. Great acidity to stand up to short ribs. Nice dark fruit on the palate with hints of blueberry. Nice finish. In a great place right now.

Decanted through vinturi Fair amount of sediment Dark, black, inky, thick Intense fruit, intense tannins, but there was a very bitter edge on the palate. Not my cup of tea. I much prefer Turley zins. Their cabs are good too. But I suppose the syrah just doesn't do it for me.

Enjoyed with regular wine group. Syrah, Petite Sarah theme. This bottle was fantastic. Way better than last one opened maybe 18 24 months ago. Bottle variation? Likely I think. But after having this one it could have gone one for another 5 or more. Great fruit, tannins resolved, acid still there and right. Everyone loved it.

Excellent. Dark ripe fruit, integrated and fully resolved tannin, silky long finish. Notes of blueberry, lilac, asphalt, mahogany, on the nose and palate. Lots of body and structure, I am personally skeptical it holds together for 9 more years but there is also no rush here. Wish I had more, or could find more. (Found more)

Worth the wait, as an outstanding Cab alternative with our grilled streaks tonight. Wouldn’t go so far as to call this “exceptional” (I had high hopes!), but grateful to have had it in my cellar. Maybe not a great ROI, but smooth, varietally representative and still quite enjoyable. No need to wait.

Slow ox for 30 min. This is in an excellent place. Raspberry, iron and spice. The wine is deep, complex but in nice mature balance now. Will continue to evolve for 5-10 years.

Very nice. Complex integrated full bodied dark fruit. Can't tell it's 14 years old. Drank with ribs.

Agree with: 1/11/2020 - Growler69 Likes this wine: Opened about and hour before dinner but did not decant. Right on opening, nose and palate were filled with fruit. After sitting, both nose and palate were more restrained with integrated rounded tannins coming though.

Wow! The 2007 Hayne PS is outstanding right now. The bouquet jumps out of the glass. Huge nose, awesome balance on the palate. This wine rocks. But be warned ... this is a fruit bomb. I like this style of petite syrah, but some do not. It is not spicy, but is a muscular, fruit forward style. Big notes of dark berry, with a long finish. I am so glad I have cellared this superstar. It is drinking great now …

I decanted it for thirty minutes. It was muted with a short finish and most of the tannins have been resolved. When paired with Mongolian beef it came alive and was quite enjoyable with the pairing. I doubt more time will improve it but it is not fading in any way.

I had low expectations for this wine and I must say it was better than I anticipated, but still not great. I served it coolish (around 60-65) and I think this helped. The nose was massive with huge fruit, spice, and a hint of alcohol. The palate was hugely concentrated and this helped to temper some of the alcohol, but in the end it still felt hot and a bit unbalanced. Others enjoyed it more than me.

Good but I have soured on the Petite Syrah style over time. Too big and too fruit-forward. I would hope for more balance from a wine that is 10+ years old. Enjoyed it but simply looking for more balance and finesse.

Pretty decent sediment thrown. Nose of cranberry, dark blue fruits. Good lift in the nose. Nicely ripe without being overly so, blueberry, cracked pepper, fine tannins. Whether it’ll last 10 or more years, we’ll, probably needn’t wait.

Big bold wine that likes to strut it's stuff. Fantastic with our lamb shank; imagine this will go with any type of game meat. Very thick mouth coating teeth staining and smooth wine that hides the high ABV. Quite youthful despite being 10 years old. Blueberry fruit dominates with cocoa, cedar, herbs, and black pepper. The luscious is very long that carries the fruit, cocoa and pepper on and on.

Fabulous. I thought this was a zin. Interesting to see how time tempers the fruit in the the Petit Syrah. I still prefer these wines when they are younger but a great wine none the less. Should continue to age nicely through 2022.

Disappointing at price point, and after holding this many years -- sadly simple... has a slight edge that says maybe there's more to be discovered with air, decanting, or more time, but I didn't wait for it to open up. Hopefully the 900+ bottles remaining in others' inventory will show better.

Big wine as expected but very drinkable. Don't know that I could ever wait for some of the suggested peak drinking Windows for these PS wines. This was very lush in both aroma and taste with tannins pretty well in check. All who drank enjoyed it.

I'll say up front that this isn't my style. A big, concentrated, jammy Cali red. No surprises there. Very nice fruit, balance, medium acidity, good length. Though there's not much intrigue, I can't knock this wine. Well made.

Popped and poured--a mistake! The wine was too dense and tannic at this stage. Better with grilled lamb sausage. Would recommend decanting for hours or just waiting 3-5 years. Obviously has great potential. Needs food and time.

Gorgeous and distinctive. On the third day after opening this wine I'm still processing the experience. We drank this over three nights, each night showing us a different layer of what I think is a monumental wine. Concentrated and dense, the wine coats the glass with a viscous sheen of deep purple. Flavors: blackberry and dark fruit, rich yet with a bright edge, laced across a structure of deep, dark cacao and new leather. Even on the first night, this …
