Northern Rhone tasting (Utregs Wijnhuis, Utrecht, NL) : This spent 2 hours in a decanter, but still it was hard to look beyond the oak. On the (medium+) nose mainly vanilla with butter, caramel, beewax, some tropical fruit and ripe melon. Acidity is medium- and the palate is a bit shallow, not in balance with the nose. Northern Rhone tasting (Utregs Wijnhuis) : Intensity medium(+). Yellow apple, melon, diairy, vanilla, oak, Werther's original. Acidity medium. Finish medium. Made from 85% Marsanne, 15% Roussanne. 12 months aged in 30% new oak and 70% 1 year old oak.

This was opened accidentally - I meant to grab the red of the exact same name. Nose of tropical fruit, oak, candle wax and crushed herbs. Palate had glazed pineapple, oak, vanillin, lemon sherbert, and savory herbs. Medium minus acidity, full body, medium plus length on the finish. This needed years and I only realized I grabbed the wrong bottle after I had started pouring with an audible "oh shit..." Oh well. It's still enjoyable now, but it will integrate …
