Dunesforde Bacchus

OK, so let's be straight forward here, this is a wine from North Yorkshire, so expectations should be tempered. Nevertheless, this is a perfectly pleasant and serviceable wine. Nice gooseberry and elderflower, balanced well with the pretty bracing acidity. It has no obvious flaws at all. The thing is, it is very simple and rather boring, and it's a style you can get for considerably less money. You are really paying extra to support this fairly unique local industry.

Pale yellow, lovely nose of grapefruit and a little blossom. The palate has more grapefruit and citrus, with lots of fresh acidity and a little saline edge. A nice clean finish. Another uncomplicated wine from my local producer. Vines were only planted in 2016 so plenty of room for improvement as the vines mature. This is a solid wine and at only 11% an ideal aperitif.
