Really nice GSM. Mellow with balanced acidity. Blueberry and pomegranate in front of a lightly peppered finish and moderate tannins.

Dark garnet. No decant; first pour: fruit and palate muted, no tannins, flat finish. Opened up nicely over the next 3-4 hours in the glass and bottle. Med+ body. Med+ acidity. Powerful wine. From the nose alone a big punch of dark fruit, cherry+cassis, rich chocolate cookie oak notes, and noticeable burn of alcohol (15.2%). Palate has wonderful dark red/purple fruits (cherry, ripe plum, raspberry); cured fatty meat; rounded out with oak-y fruity/gummy dark chocolate, baking spices and gingersnap. Nice …

Soft and mild, fully resolved, though there's still a vein of body in the mid-palate. Pleasant, but not stirring. I prefer the 2013 and 2014.

Drinking well now with red cherry fruit, roses, smooth mouthfeel and fairly resolved tannins. The grenache seemed to dominate this fruit driven wine.

Popped and poured. Peppery nose. Plum fruit, a juicy crabapple type acidity, a bit earthy, and sharp tannin at the end. A little too thin to be a cocktail wine. Decently good but not a showstopper. Doubt this will get better with time.

Typically deep Villa Creek, with dark dark fruit, bramble, whatever the garrigue of Paso is.

Drank on vacation in Lake Placid. Was it the wine or the setting, but the best showing yet of this wine.

Luscious nose -- macerated strawberry and raspberry, with notes of underbrush, chocolate and fairly prominent oak/vanilla. Palate unfolds loads of raspberry of blueberry, with notes of earth and mineral and more toasted oak. Very rich, and close to going over the line without crossing it. Great for what it is.

Aromatic, fresh cut wild flowers, sage and cherry cola. Fresh acidity, medium, round tannins with nice balance. Sweet, candied plum, raspberry compote and hint of white truffle on back palate. A bit sweet on first night, started coming in its own on night 2. Solid bottle, just not quite hitting on all 8 cylinders like first bottle of '12.

Consumed at a party, so hard to make full evaluation/description. That said, very full GMS--lots of fruit and spice.

Drinking well, if a bit simple. Plenty rich for 70% Grenache. No need to age much more.

The vanilla oak nose needs time to blow off. Then the dominant note is smoky red berries. Nice rounded syrah-heavy GSM. A bit peppery with dark fruit. Some decent tannic structure. I'd give this one a few years.

Blackberry purple in color. Dark berry notes with an undercurrent of black licorice and pomegranate. Firm tannins make for a wonderfully long finish. Delicious now and will mature for years to come.

Powerful red-fruit aroma, medium bodied, with moderate acidity and tannins, it has flavors of blackberry, red fruit, and some pepper, which was brought out in its excellent pairing with spicy lamb. Complex and flavorful but with only a medium finish.

This is as Obviously a Rhone blend as it is a California wine. Super fruit, with powerful concentration and high alcohol (15.3?!!!?) Qualities include brambly red and black fruits, mint and fennel, and a surprising streak of minerality. A bit of savoriness too on the nose. A nice bottle, and while the alcohol isn't out of balance on the nose or palate, I still don't like how strong it is. I drink two glasses and my head is spinning. I …

Decanted for 2-3 hours. Dried herbs with fennel on nose. Opened up over the course of night, black forest soil with boysenberry & black raspberry. Medium to high tannins. Layer of bacon fat leads to lush, 30+ second finish of liquid smoke. Premium juice!

The wine is a deep ruby color. The big and bold nose has raspberries, blackberries, minerals, licorice, dried herbs, warm baking spices, cherries, wood smoke, and a bit of earthiness. This full bodied gem has moderate to solid tannins and good acidity. On the palate the spicy fruit kicks off the show with minerals and some earthiness waiting in the wings. The finish is long and layered with nice fruit and savory elements taking turns stealing the show. This is …

Popped and poured at room temp. Opaque ruby color. I get a bit of Mourvedre earth on the nose, as well as berry and a floral hint. Starts of really bright on the front of my palate and then POW! hits mid palate with solid structure of fruit and then a good amount of tannins at the end...still going...still going...still going. Damn! Very nice, solid finish. Stems up!

Didn't decant this time. Beautiful juice like last time though showed more oak spice at first. Better integrated after being open about 30 minutes. Great texture. Excellent wine but recommend a short decant.

Decanted 30 minutes. Dark ruby with an inviting nose of dark berries, pepper, and toasted oak. Palate is R3 - ripe, round, and rich with wonderful waves of pillow soft dark fruits and white pepper with fine sandy tannins. This has some sweetenss to it and is very showy but is well proportioned with the white pepper and oak balancing the sweet fruit perfectly. Finishes long & dry. Hedonistic and delicious.

15.2% ABV. Popped and poured. Translucent dark garnet in the glass. Ripe cherry kirsch nose. Somewhat hedonistic with sweet Chateauneuf du Pape like flavors. Finishing perhaps a little hot. This is tasty and satisfying even if it seems to be a bit lacking in nuance at this early juncture. Velvety texture.
