Disappointing. Starting to show signs of oxidation, slightly nutty and honeyed, lacking the precision and acidity you’d expect from a young bottle of Coche. Still totally drinkable and even good, but tasted like it was 10 years older than it actually is.

Un incroyable 2008! Il en a encore sous le pied. Arômes de noisettes grillées. La robe est jaune doré Il remplit la bouche avec une très belle longueur la finale citronnée. Beaucoup de finesse. C’est réellement une bouteille d’exception

Very light TCA, decanted with cellophane wrap added, which did not do much. Rather, the razor-cut vintage acidity on palate is evident, yoghurt, white fruit, incredibly rich, so sharp, so young. One of those wow Coche. 94-95+

Extremely flinty, you had to guess at the fruit hiding behind the sulfur. This is the third Coche I've tasted in four months, from different sources, the others being a '22 Bourgogne Chardonnay and a '22 Auxey-Duresses. All were reductive to the point of unpleasantness. I decanted the Bourgogne and two hours later is was only a little more expressive. Is it safe to suppose these wines need ten years in the cellar before being broached?

A generous friend brought this over to my place for what was an incredible dinner. This was served non-blind after a flight of: 2011 Henri Boillot Bienvenues Batard Montrachet 2011 Etienne Sauzet Bienvenues Batard Montrachet 2011 Bouchard Chevalier Montrachet La Cabotte For me, those wines were more impressive and doubly so since they were the last pour after 3 years Coravinned! For me, the Coche was surprisingly NOT special. I had the 2018 Meursault last year and this was not …

Dinner with DBY (Imperial Treasure Great World City) : Initially a little muted due to the temperature but it open up show beautiful aromas of citrus fruits, flower, flintstone. Seamless on the palate with similar aromas good acidity ending with a long finish.

Very aromatic, match stick reduction very prominent in wine and oak not entirely settled. This is however showing great and is not overwhelming in any way. Great precision, purity en love the tension on the palate. A lighter style of Coche, showing well but needs to gain in harmony.

Wish we had time to decant as really it took for ever to wake up and deliver. Nutty, soft richness, nice use of oak which is now fully assimilated, mineral and focused a bit of a linear than fatty wine ( not sure if its the vintage) . Special in its own little way and still very early in many respects. Treat this with the utmost respect. 94 from us for now.

Another proof why Coche Dury bottles are so sought after. Needed a 4 hr decant and should not be served too cold - absolutely top notch Puligny which can still age but is also already beautiful now.

Popped and poured at Kukio. Very young and vibrant. Nose shows white flowers, spice and lemon infused minerals. Taut, chalky texture with tension and lots of acid. This is still so young, it needs time to unfurl. BTW my bottle is nothing like Allen Meadows’ review, ours is not even close to advanced, based on the acidity blind I would guess this wine as a 2014!

The 2008 Coche Dury Puligny Montrachet Les Enseigneres 2008 is more evolved than expected. Not sure whether it was vintage characteristics or bottle variation. Buttery white orchard fruits, ultra-ripe citrus and smoked minerals, showing the 2008 Chardonnay fattiness. Coche Dury’s parcel of Les Enseignieres is located right below Batard Montrachet, and it stood well against Leflaive big guns. Energetic and bright with steely minerals and tense yellow fruits. Served blind. Intense struck match aroma, palate is very tense and packed. This is a tightly coiled spring that will almost assuredly benefit from age. Tonight, I preferred the expressiveness of the Carillon, but thought this would be the better wine for the future.

Surprisingly approachable even following the 98 Enseigneres. Opened 1.5 hours prior to service and tasted to make sure it was correct. Initially more high acid, lighter, and more lemony. By the time we came around to this, the Coche acidity and oak is in harmony with the rich fruit and riper honey profile. There is the classic coche matchstick profile and nice acidic lift. Just beginning it’s drinking window.

Coche gunflint, minerals and yellow fruit. Showing well on the palate with sweet yellow fruit and minerality. Evolved well in the glass unleashing layers of underlying substance. 08 is a superb coche vintage. Needs more time to develop that sexy nuttiness. Should have decanted the bottle to serve like how we did it for the 08 meursault

A 40-Year Retrospective on 1978's (Los Olivos, CA) : A stellar Chardonnay, singing from the get-go after a 1-hour decant, but took on weight and complexity for the next 6 hours, and would have continued to do so had we not finished ours. Potent, ripe nose of toasted marshmallow and lemon, with evident reduction. That tell-tale mint on the palate intermingled with very concentrated notes of citrus, hazelnut, brioche and citrus. Expansive and explosive finish. Just entering prime drinking form, …

(Blind tasting) Very complex, spicy and oaky nose. Very impressive depth. Rich and majestic. Gun-flint, nuts, butter, herbes de provence and lovely yellow orchard fruit. Massive, luxurious impression. Full and very fresh palate. Toasty and roasted in an impressing and majestic way. Extremely rich. Harmonius, seamless, extremely intense. Densely fruity and long. Goes on and on. Fantastic grip. Fantastic white Burg where the intensity made us guess on Grand Cru. How can a mere village be so extremely concentrated and …

Such a ravishingly lovely Coche - lots of bright lemony Chardonnay, Coche's match stick, mineral, and a subtle mint note that really adds so much. Such depth, both on the nose and palate. I could drink this every day. Fabulous.

Plenty of smoky mineral reduction to the nose. It breathes to show intense, pure white peach. There's some spice and lemon too. It is compact, direct, linear and chalky. The finish is ooaded with dry extract and length is superb.

Interesting to see the variation of notes on this wine. Our restaurant bottle tonight was pristine. Youthful and fresh, perhaps even a bit reserved on the nose initially. However as it warmed a bit in the glass and accompanied a seafood based menu, it opened up and impressed with precision, real depth and reserves of power. Waves of refined intensity on the finish. Pure and elegant throughout, with an uncanny ability to pick up on nuanced notes in the dishes …

Not enough aeration this time. Decanted for one hour plus. Some nut, spearmint and coche matchstick on the nose. Palate is still restrained but the high acidity and underlying substance are undeniably good. Needs a lot of time.

Vibrant and young without any sign of premox. Pale clear gold colour. Wonderful mixture of mineral, zesty lime, spices, toasted nuts and floral in bouquet. The aroma changed a lot with temperature. Amazing acidity and finish. A classical 08 PM CD. Can still keep but really don't need to wait.

Pretty aromas of lemon, wet stones, and apple. A tart citrus quality dominates the palate followed by a lean dry fruit core. Angular and intense. Some felt it need more time to flesh out, others thought acid dominated the fruit and this was unlikely to correct. Very good, just paled in comparison to the 2011 and 2013 served along side.

Wine Dinner Extravaganza (Rosewood Hotel Dining Room - Washington DC) : In 08/11/13 flight. An odd bottle, this seemed inconsistent with the other two vintages in terms of fruit profile and balance. Aromas took a while to emerge, but ended up floral and ripe. Palate just never came into perfect equilibrium, showing very good concentration, but backward flavors and a slightly tart finish. I'd cellar longer if I owned any bottles. 90 points tonight, but future?
