Decanted about an hour prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2006 Rattlesnake Ridge pours a deep ruby/purple with an opaque core and some rim variation. Medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears and signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart, ripe, and some desiccated, mostly black fruits. Black cherry, wild black brambles, black plums and some pruning, figs, black pepper, smoked meat, leather and hoisin. On …

Flat bottom decanter used for 90 minutes prior to drinking. Drank over the next 4 hours. Very integrated and smooth, fresh raspberry and cherry. Balanced and drinking well. I cant see why you would not drink this winter

Very mellow and smooth. Not a BIG wine but not meek, we had it along with a Carlisle Syrah and the Turley showed much bolder in comparision. Pretty tight on opening but mellowed out over time. Drank over 6 hours and was smoother as we went

drinking beautifully. Everything now is refined and balanced. More sophisticated than powerful. Cherry fruit still clear and strong, lots of earth notes.

Dark, rich, very enjoyable. Decanted for sediment - really opened up over the next 90 minutes. As good as this one will get IMHO.

Ripe just short of oxidized, moderate tannin and acidity with flavors of plum, blueberry, cracked pepper and a shortish finish. Drink any time.

I didn't take notes at the time, but had this a few hours ago. Pop and pour out of a Champagne glass (Tulip) on a friend's rooftop. Great right out of the bottle but improved a bit (more so texturally) with some air. Mainly black cherry, perhaps a bit of chocolate. Huge concentration but still in balance. Full bodied. Fairly tannic, but the tannins were rather plush, especially with air. No heat. Great with Apple Pan style burgers. I'd probably …

Super duper pepper! This wine has aged gracefully but has some serious Rhône notes of pepper. Tannins still present but I don’t think this wine is going to get any better. Enjoyed with steak tips, grilled asparagus, and potatoes.

With a group tasting. Decanted for sediment - there was lot of it. This bottle showed clear secondary notes and was liked by the group

Dark fruit and almost meaty on the nose. I’ve had this bottle for at least ten years and I’ve stored it well. Little tannin and full-bodied though a bit monolithic. I was surprised how much age it showed. Still very tasty. And the recorked 1/3 bottle drunk 24 hours later was perhaps even better. Need to compare it against the ‘06 Hayne and the ‘06 Switchback PS. Soon!

Purple through and through. 14.8% ABV. Tremendous nose of black fruits, menthol, licorice and flowers. Full bodied with perfect acidity. Exceptionally well balanced. Black cherry, blackberry, barbecued meats and pepper on the palate. The finish is long with soft and supple tannins. Some of the Turley wines from this era where a little over the top for my taste. Not the case here. Super Petite Sirah. This will surely age longer but it is hard to imagine it showing any …

Sandalwood, cherry compote, cinnamon, tomato skin and currant on the nose. Zesty palate of savory herbs, gazpacho, warm brown spices and dried/macerated red fruit. Acid is good, drinks a bit warm. 15.9% in 2006?? Not much youth left. Drink now.

Tight and monolithic at first but it opened up and developed some complexity. Very strong tannins for a 2006, but some breathing helped a bit. This wine will never more than a brutish, tannic wine in my opinion. But Ienjoy a wine like this from time to time. No sign of advanced age on my bottle so feel free to wait another five years. I have two more to go so I will try again in 2024 I would decant.

Double decanted over 2 hours. This PS significantly changed since last consumed 4 years ago. Dark and dense with concentrated but restrained fruit accompanied by notes of mocha and earth. Pepper and gripping tannins provided and very lengthy and enjoyable finish. Will only get better with more age. Stunning.

Drink now or continue to cellar another year or two; either way you can't go wrong. Gave it a 90 min decant. Faint cherry, leather, and mild tobacco on the nose. Dark fruit, including black raspberry, with smoky undertones on the palate; medium tannins and somewhat bright acidity. Paired well with bbq (pork) ribs and chicken.

Big, bold and full of life. Decanted the wine for two hours which helped bring out the more earthy flavors. Great structure with just enough tannin to give it backbone. The fruit was soft and full; very well matched with a heavily marbled Rib Eye. This bottle was kept under well controlled conditions and would easily have continued to develop for another couple of years.

Best Burger Event, Monthly Tasting Group (Jason and Tracy's, Mpls, MN) : Drank a small pour blind. Intense, fragrant berries, very big, tons of pepper, firm tannins, medium full body. Black fruit on the nose with hints of earth. Thought this was a syrah from Washington, hit the vintage.

Wow- this has aged well and still short of its sweet spot. The Alc is well integrated in this wine. A great Petite Sirah and I wish I had more. I would say hold for another 1-2 years of decant for 1 hour.

I let this get past it's prime...so it would be unfair for me to rate it. When you uncork a Turley wine and there is no nose...sigh. I loved this wine when it was young. (sigh...again)
