Domaine Gaston et Pierre Ravaut Ladoix 1er Cru La Corvée

I didn’t know what to expect from this. It showed pretty balanced fruit and tertiary flavor.

Deep crimson with little sign of aging. Very tight at cellar temp, mineral, iron, black cherry and a cool hint of menthol. Two hours in the glass and the fruit builds a little with lavender and faint violet notes appearing. Very Corton in style, and needs plenty of time to add some flesh to its bones, 17.5.

Correct colour with no ageing as yet. Berry predominant on the nose, with blueberry, black cherry, cherry pits, smoke and sawdusty oak. Similar palate, firm and with a spine of fresh 2010 acidity underpinning the mini-Corton structure. This was a $40 purchase! No such premier cru bargains today. No rush for this leave until 2030.

Rough, tannic

Ruby red...initially some wood in finish that seamed a little charred...smoothed down with time in glass...I feel like this wine drinking nicely, punching above its weight
