Transparent ruby, begining to turn orange at the edges. Lovely, quite evolved nose with sweet cherry, strawberry, violets, liquorice, spice and some herbs. Elegant rather than rustic. On the palate lots of tannins that slightly overpowers the ripe fruit. Medium acidity and a nice mineral feeling of iron, earth and warm stone. Very nice, more elegant but less powerfull than the 2003 Prapo from the same producer that we drank alongside.

Medium Ruby. Classic nebbiolo notes. Medium/full body. Tannins quite rough/ dry and the fruit has dissapeared compared to the last bottle. Nice length. Still a very nice quality barolo but drink up now.

Fully mature, orange brimming. Leather, nutmeg, roses and moist autumn underbrush on the nose. The fruit is almost gone and the mature smells are mirrored on the palate, along with very present tar and sooty liquorice notes. Astringent acidity and drying tannins on the finish, which is somewhat bitter. Probably the fastest-maturing of Schiavenza's single vineyard Barolos in the 2003 vintage - definitely a very good Barolo, but lacking in balance and durability compared to Broglio, Ceretta and Prapó, which …

Scoop ... Just another perfect Barolo from Schiavenza ! Drink within next 12 months. Decanted for only app. 1 houer at 15 degrees and then room temp. Classic medium/light red colour. Opened up nicely. Such a nice smell of cherries, earth and leather and little bit of bitter tea and iron. Strong perfect balanced tannins. Long perfect nebbiolo "aftertaste" ! Enjoyed with some pasta, chicking and muschroom/mix, garlic sauce. OT

There's shades of orange in the glass, the colour has depth, a hint of terracotta in the edges. The smell is deep, a hint of port (hello 2003), orange peel, red wineberries, rowanberries, something leathery and tarish licorice. The taste reflects the smell, the tannins have some grip, feel i little bit hot and rough, but they're not a problem at all with risotto. Acid is fine, the wine is complex and sits pretty well together. I wouldn't sit any …

Glows like a sunset in the glass. Lovely complex aromas, slightly cooked, slightly dry tannins, and the fruit is beginning to fade. Fully mature already. Drink now.
