Not so much a tasting note as a technical note on the wine. This wine is more accurately Multi-Vintage as it is sourced from a Solera. The Solera itself is apparently 275 yrs old. That means it was started around 1750. Wow. Each year, a new blend of speciifc bota (barrels) is created to make the wine. The blend (at least the bota) varies year on year. Both of these bottles have been open for some months forlornly sitting on the shelf. This bottle (at most 1/3rd) was still alive and well. Surprisingly so. The freshness has dulled but the nuttiness, weight and complexity were very much alive and well. Surprisingly so. We are fortunate to have this wizard of Spanish wine, Scott Wasley, resident in Melbourne. This Manzanilla is his blend. A testament to his knowledge and skill.
