Prima Materia Refosco

This was a bigger wine then we originally thought. Although the Prima Materia website says it's equivalent to a Syrah. i think it's a bit more. More flavor. More bite. i recommend allowing this wine to breathe at least an hour to tame the touch of tartness that might seem surprising at first sip. But patience is a virtue, here. A little bit of honey and lime on the nose, marionberry and slightly sour blackberries with the initial taste. Medium finish, not too heavy, but overall a great wine to pair with food. Had some short rib with it and it had plenty of acidity to cut through the richness. Another great prima materia wine, was ready to go with about an hour open in bottle.

Deep magenta fading to pink with a watery rim. On the nosecare dark fruits, violets, and a hint of sweet tobacco. The palate is long in acidity, fine tannins, more dark fruit, and medium plus body. A long and gentle aftertaste of lavender and expresso comes through on the end. Recommended. Give this an hour decant. Is wasn't until 45 minutes+ that the nuances became apparent.
