Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte tasting dinner (The Guest House) : It is mute at first, but after a few swirls, it becomes very aromatic. Peach, flowers, flint, and herbaceous notes. Medium acidity, with signature creaminess and good salinity. Long finish.

Poured at the winery. Few hour slow ox. Light golden straw color. Cantaloupe, pear, peach, and mint leaf. Smooth, dry, creamy palate. Fine, tongue coating acidity. 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris, and 5% Semillon This was a very pleasant surprise. Best white I had during 9 days in Bordeaux and Saint Emilion. Very elegant blend.

This '22 Bordeaux Blanc from Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte was tasted at the UGC Tasting in New York City at Cipriani - Grand Central. A quick note on '22 in BDX based on my overall tasting - you can taste the ripeness in a lot of these bottles. These are some of the most 'new world' tasting Bordeaux's I've had. En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Seven (Bordeaux) : medium minus intensity aromas of gooseberry, fresh grass, a little almost lemongrass note, touches of green apple, sweet spice and polished oak as well as a little almost yeasty note. Interesting nose. Juicy green apple with a slight apple skin bitterness, smidge of non-intrusive alcohol warmth, textured rasp is slightly drying on the mid palate. Disappointing palate after the nose.
