Liquid mahogany! I don't mean the shoe-polish of dead over-ripeness that has been increasingly seen since the horror or 2003. Could easily be young Rioja Reserva. Smooth old wood; brown earth and maybe re-emerging dark-red fruit. Decent depth; a tad of juiciness; and minor tightness: good with rich food now, but to improve and peak in a year or two. 87 to 88, 88.
