Only 200 cases of this 2013 - all from the Bien Nacido Vineyard (source of Qupé’s Hillside Estate Roussanne). Whilst young this is has the mark of something outstanding. Great precision and length and pure Roussanne. Rather put Gonon's 2011 Les Oliviers blanc (which it followed) in the shade. I think this score will rise.

Okay, trying to be fair, but I don't want to rate this better than good. I thought this was unctuous, too, and a little petrol-y. On drinking, I got lemon peel, not grapefruit zest, and a kind of bitter, oily finish. Sure, we finished the bottle, but I wasn't holding it up and wondering how they made this, or when I could go buy more. In this vein, I like the Albarice Malvasia better--just more refreshing.

Unctuous texture. Dominated by savory mineral, herbal, and floral flavors, with some melon, pear, and lemon, especially on first opening. I would rate this higher, but the lack of acidity leaves it flabby. Normally I prefer whites at about cellar temperature, especially when they're on the aromatic side, but I think this works better colder.
