Four Value Bordeaux and a Roussillon Chardonnay : Stabbed with the Coravin. Aired in the glass for 45 minutes. Bright and lively, with kirsch on the nose, with raspberries, some cured meat, and violets. Sturdy tannins on the finish. Maturing nicely, this is becoming one of the best Fonréauds I've had. A classic combination of dark cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant, with some plum midpalate and enough freshness to steer it well clear of anything stodgy. There's a certain elegance too, so far from the slightly clumsy wines that Listrac's reputation would lead one to expect - but Fonréaud has always been one of the better addresses so no surprise there.

Color: Medium ruby. Still quite youthful. Nose: A bit tame. Wild berries and a hint of beef broth. Mouth: Very good expressiveness and length. Cherries and a hint of charred wood. Purchased as part of a mixed case in my ongoing QPR search (RP 90 and <$20; this one RP 92 and $19.79). Nose shows some Old-World complexity with cassis, black cherry, graphite, some cedar, and a touch of cool black licorice. Silky mouthfeel. Remains a solid value. Age has mellowed out whatever tannins were there. Mostly secondary flavors at this time, tobacco and cedar. Well constructed. Drinking well now.

Good Bordeaux, especially given the price. Strawberries mostly on the palate quickly followed by earthy tones and wood. Doesn’t last too long and isn’t the most complex, but satisfying if you’re looking for a middle of the week Bordeaux under $20.

This was a nice surprise - cedar and blackberry on the nose, then a very silky, stylish mouthful of blackcurrant, spicy plum and blackberry. Not nearly as chunky as in the past, this reminded me, partly because of the label perhaps, of Lafon-Rochet, at a third of the price.

Held up and, I think, improved over few days recorked in the fridge. Best at cellar temperature. Short finish, but solid Bordeaux balance of fruit, acid, and savory.

Took about an hour to open up after decanting. Mild tannins, not much fruit. Pleasant with dinner, but not as exciting as I’d hoped. Unlikely to get any better with time so I’ll be drinking the remaining bottles soon.

Better than I remember. Always a go-go reasonably priced Bordeaux for me and one I need to remember to get a few of in most vintages. Well-balanced, with a creamy aspect I like. Great value and drinks earlier than most.

Further revisit after October 2020. Black fruits, coffee, chocolate nose. Full bodied, well integrated tannins. Still black cherry palate with some figs. Drinking well although hasn’t improved. I would say 5-8 years but wil revisit yet again in a year or two.

This was a bit flabby right out of the bottle, but the 2nd glass about an hour later had much more stature and depth. Solid value in most vintages.

Much improved from 3 years ago. Oak dominates with vanilla prominent. Beautiful nose, soft tannins, long silky finish. Good QPR.

Very solid for the price. Powerful, not overly complex. Weaker on day 2, so I doubt of there is much room for further improvement.

Nose of dry currants, dry cherry, and heavy tobacco leaf aromas, with a hint of hot stones. Palate has more tobacco, singed earth, red currant, and cherries with a smoky backbone. Big earthy finish shows some drive, with more tobacco atop firm tannins. There's a narrow range of flavors here but it's powerful and well done. However, there's already not much fruit left so aging will be a question of palate preference. Personally, I'd drink in the next three years.

Funky nose when opened, but it dissipates within an hour. Medium body, if not on the light side, good freshness, red currant and vegetal component, tightly wound, not very convincing on the finish, lacks some drive from mid palate to finish. € 10-12 from Antwerp is OK, but prices above £18 in UK ... not really tempting.

A nice Bordeaux for any occasion. It’s savory and has enough going on to keep it interesting, and it’s priced right for a crowd. A short, 30-minute decant from a 375 and this was ready to go. You could probably hold this splits for another few years, but no reason to be patient. 750 bottles are probably just unwinding. Drink up!

From a half bottle. No decant. 30 minutes air. This is a nice claret from a great vintage. It has some nice brambley fruit with a charming rustic touch. It’s ready to open, although I’m sure this will continue to develop. For a weeknight beverage, this will do just fine.

Revisited this after tasting last year. I think it has improved. Medium ruby. Blackberries on the nose. Medium bodied, quite well balanced. Black cherries palate. Good wine. Still not sure I would go with RP on longevity. Should drink well for 5-10 years.
