Domaine Prieuré Roch Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Le Clos des Corvées

A very serious natural wine. Deep dark dense cloudy purple. Spices and dark cherries. Tannins present but not troublesome. Great now with some air but definitely upside. Glad I have more.

We can only but imagine where this wine goes with a bit of age and evolution on the fruit and it is seldom wines this young inspire us this much. Much better than the other lieux dit in NSG. Classic PR fragrance with firm acid that makes it almost irresistible.

At a the Square restaurant in Beaune. Meaty flavors blend well with a beautifully extracted, rather dark cherry fruit. Herbal notes of menthol add depth. A chiseled palate with quite mouthcoating tannins make for a pretty big and bold appearance. Develops mote detail and precise layers with aeration. While the nose was getting better and better, the palate is the real showstopper from the get go. Would score rather conservatively at this stage as clearly 7-10 years away from approaching …

Quite dark color and nose with earthy notes, cherries, tea, and almost brooding fruit flavors. Good acidity on the palate with similar dark fruit notes, spices, and a hint of smoke. Nice finish. I quite liked this at first, and it feels very NSG given the earthy notes, but also very 2020. It's probably a bit too dark fruited for what I look for in red Burgundy. The one with monopoles (JP) : Brief notes. First instinct when I tried this was that this was Prieure Roch, NSG Corvees but was thinking 2019. But, in line with most instances, one simply doubts one's gut and tries too hard to be clever lol. Blind Tasting Clos Monopole : Pronounced nose intensity with notes of red and blue cherry, sour cherry, funky, earth. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Wine is of outstanding quality. The wine can be drank now but can aged for improvement.

2020s are singing!

OM’s red, served blind, super exotic nose, barley, curry, very powerful, reminds me of a Prieure Roch, funky, feral nose, gorgeous perfume, whole clusters & natural, distinct winemaker style & hard to pinpoint Burg but hell it’s bloody tasty & sexy like Dua Lipa

Candied warm strawberry nose, bit of that stink from PR but nothing wrong with it. The only issue I have is the level of extraction I pick up from this and this seems to be consistent in the recent new PR’s I’ve had

Smell of new oak, then evolves toward plasticky polish. Taste of stems, real energy.

Guess I am the first. Drank at Hotel Costes in Paris—which now has an entire DPR section on the wine list. New in the last 90 days. Impossible for a guy like me to assess as this is basically an effervescent barrel sample. Pure primary fruit with a ton of spice and super tannic finish. On the nose maybe this is like a young Leroy but the palate is hard to enjoy at this moment.
