What a difficult wine to rate and assess as the other TNs will attest. It is the most atypical rosé champagne I have had and shows what can be done when everything is pushed to the limit. Serious rosè champagnes : Didn't realise I had this wine before. Rather natty - had a rather distracting carbonic nose of watermelon rind (that reminded me of a Bojo); the low dosage definitely stuck out. My previous note two years ago stated that this was more intellectual than pleasurable, think I still stand by that.

4- 5 maceration on the skin. Very dark red colour. Appearance more like pinot than rose. Decanted for 1 hour to dissolve some of the effervescence as theres quite a lot of champagne and roses for the night. Notes of red fruits, red cherry, strawberry.

Gifted a glass 2 days after it was opened - completely flat and no bubbles left. Very dark red color, but it felt a bit flat, tired and over-oxidized for me - could be it had been opened for quite some days. There was a touch of fresh red berries, but the notes were dominated more by raisin, plum, figs, prunes and dates. Getting closer to notes I would expect in a Colheita Port.

Was a bit unbalanced - appeared a bit flat with missing fruit and a bit harsh acidity. Normally I am a big fan of Marie Courtins wine, but this one was a bit off - it seemed like wine on its way down, but perhaps just a bad bottle - who knows

Deeeeep ruby color. Savory nose, herbs and cranberries. Fuck yes, savory continues through, cranberry raspberry, a little burlap sack and hay, very mineral on the finish. Acid is in balance. Beautiful example of an aged rose.

Boston Wine + Poker BYOW, Lincoln, Mass: This was the only controversial wine in an otherwise unimpeachable line-up. A previous bottle seemed like high-quality red Burgundy with bubbles, while this bottle seemed like an extra brut with identity issues. Flavor of cinnamon, with some tanginess, and the leanness of extra brut. Two of the poker players clearly disliked it, one liked it, and I recognize the problems but find it intriguing.

(disg. 7/20) I opened my last bottle a bit more than a year ago, and this one showed rather different. This struck me as being best described as a sparkling orange wine, both on the nose and palate. Interesting, different, and curious. I preferred the more "traditional" showing of the first bottle.

This was delicious. Dark ruby in color. Deeply concentrated raspberry juice, fermented cranberry, lavender oil, baked clay, and creme fraiche. A very powerful and well structured wine. Looking at other notes in comparison I'm assuming some amount of bottle variation but ours was fantastic.

Serious champagne. 100% Pinot Noir with almost 10 years on the lees. It is not a typical champagne given it is 100% Pinot Noir. The acidity from Chard or even Meunier grapes are missing and it was a bit underwhelming at the opening. But that being said, once it settled down, it was a very serious wine of character. Dibbs' early birthday : First Marie Courtin and it was in line with what others have mentioned - rather strict and linear. Very dark red in colour which reminded me of some of the roses that push red wine territory like Pepe. Not very giving at first without much aroma or fruit, but with air the cranberry fruit began to show and reminded me of those cranberry juices that they serve on flights. More of an intellectual curiosity.

A very vinous and gastronomic champagne, which played well throughout a multi-course Italian meal. I really enjoyed how the mid-palate showed pretty cherry fruit, but that the finish was really complex and savory--like an aged Red Burgundy. Glad I have more, but I would note that this is bottle is sufficiently "sui generis" that I am reluctant to recommend it unless you are open to something different; this could upset expectations if you're looking for a classic rose champagne.

Onklers Champagne mai 21 (Anders) : This was a little strange. This producer is the house wine at the famous Danish star restaurant Noma. The wine is deep dark red as cranberry juice, or like the red vitamin water. It has a complex aroma of honey, iron, blood, raspberry syrup, dried meat, pepper, leather, and cherries. This is a splendid and unusual Champagne. First, the color: bright, cherry red, markedly redder than any other rose champagne I've ever seen. Then, the aroma: pomegranate and plum, with an undercurrent of honey -- unexpected and intoxicating. Then: This is a cold-climate Pinot Noir, with discreet, fine bubbles. Light body, no tannin, delicately acidic, with bright red fruit flavors and an aftertaste of almond.

Delicious. With age the sharp edge of the younger releases have rounded away.
