Trapan Teran Terra Mare

New variety time! Also my first wine from Istria. From a well regarded producer. According to VIVC Teran is an offspring of refosco nostrano. According to Ian D'Agata's Italian varieties book it's related to refosco dal peduncolo rosso. This does have similarities to refoscos I've had, but it's more structured. Deep bluish red color, smells of raspberry and cherry. Aged 1 year in older barrels, and I don't detect any oak presence. Very tart acidity and clean red fruit flavors. …
