Clear ruby red, dark core, slight water rim. Typical Blaufränkisch nose, not masked by wood. Very smooth, almost silky, some fruits and slightly vegetal. Continues in the mouth, pretty round already. Elegant, not loud, great partner for food but is also good for drinking alone. Yes, it reminds one of Burgundy, but still, this is Blaufränkisch, done in a very good way. Blood red. Bouquet with rosehips and slightly toasted. On the palate some acidity and sticky tannin. Nothing special, but the balance is ok.

What a great value. A really nice Hungarian Blaufrankisch, clearly in the Weninger style. As usual for his wines, this is also a little rustic at this young stage, but should evolve nicely, resulting in a more refined, smoother wine in a few years. Funky nose with licorice and charcoal, black cherries, blackberries and some leather. Despite the ripeness there is a still cool climate feel to the fruits, with a nice sour aspect. Some white peach in the blend …
